Up until he left them all a week before their bowl game with no coaching staff to help prepare them, a GA calling plays in the box, and parents holding up play cards.
In addition to leaving his boss, the administration, and his players in limbo for a week while he flirted with every suitor that would come calling only to bide time until Tennessee came open.
Funny how character, passion for your players, family, holding ropes, representing letters, high ethical standards/morals are the standard coaches abide by, until a bigger paycheck or perceived job comes along.
That is just how coaching changes are. People said similar things when Kelly and Dantonio left as well. TTU fans said that same things about Tubberville when he left to come here. The blame should be directed at the NCAA for not having something in place that stops this from happening during the season and during bowl preparation. The anger should be directed at them IMO.

Agreed. I think Narduzzi has some potential as a HC one day but the luster has seemed to wear off him a little bit in recent years. Diaco would have been an absolute disaster of a hire by either BC or Purdue.

I agree Marcus - the ncaa could put an end to all of these moves in season. I think it has to do with the recruiting period. However, some of the backlash coaches receive they earn through constantly preaching standards, even they are not able to meet.

I guess it's just human nature, but I do find it funny how some will play up a new coach like the second coming of Christ when they first arrive, then after they split for supposedly greener pastures they're now declared the biggest piece of sh!t in the world by the same people.
I don't believe the coaching carousel that starts up at the beginning of bowl season will ever end because it benefits the college presidents to keep things as they are now. The NCAA has no real control over this issue.

I definitely agree with this. Personally, I didn't mind Butch's "rep the c" and "hold the rope" cliches because the guy won football games. Hell, I wouldn't care if Cincinnati's coach ran out onto the field butt naked with clown makeup on as long as he won 2 Big East championships and brought in the kind of talent to UC that Butch did. The only beef I have with him is how he left, which in the world of college athletics isn't uncommon. It's just a way of life.

Coaches have their strengths and shortcomings. I think Butch was far above average in preparation but below average in game management. Millen was trying to take a short coming of Jones and pass it off as a strength. I do not see this as a bash Jones thread.
