RE: The Coaching Carousel non-UC edition
Just thought I'd pass along a tidbit from a Travis Haney article at ESPN.com on 13 Coordinators who could land HC jobs which included Pat Narduzzi at #5. FWIW, Haney says a Big Ten reporter told him that Narduzzi was in line to get the Cincinnati job until CTT emerged as a surprise candidate.
And another even deeper FWIW: In the comments section, several posters questioned the absence of Diaco on Haney's list. In response, a poster claims: "Diaco was supposed to take the BC job but blew it in his interview and reportedly blew the Purdue job too. Unless Iowa opens up, he's a long way away from a HC job."

Not shocked by either of those. I have always thought Narduzzi had what it takes to be a head coach somewhere. If he was actually on the list after Tuberville, I would have been OK with that hire. Also, I was not impressed with Diaco in his short stint here.

No way I would have ever allowed Narduzzi to coach at UC. The reason is that after Dantonio took the job at Michigan State, good ole Pat was up for the job at Cincinnati. He was on Mike Thomas's short list and Thomas did eventually interview Pattie boy. But before his interview and before Dantonio named is new coaching staff and while he was an employee of UC, he told WLW that he was in the UC athletic headquarters wearing a green and white Michigan State sweatshirt. The guy is a loud mouth, overbearing idiot. I wouldn't hire him to pick up my garbage!!

I used to feel that way about Diaco until his Notre Dame team this past season, which made me think that the failures of the 2009 defense was due to A) not having the horses to run the 3-4 (no large, dominating nose guard) and B) transitioning from the 4-3. I don't know anything about the man personally but on the field he seems like a solid coach.

Diaco...Not that impressed with the guy.
Narduzzi was the guy I hoped we were going after before the TT thing came out of nowhere. He will get a shot with someone soon.

We'll see how good of a coach Diaco is now. He just showed that he was good at managing the other guy's talent. Now that he's had to recruit and put to field HIS players, I feel like it'll be much different.

It's so difficult to recruit to Notre Dame. I can't imagine how he'll manage.

Saw something funny on College Football Live last night. Matt Millan was ranking who he thought were the best in-game college coaches. Butch Jones was on the honor roll.

That's why Matt Millen isn't making major decisions for a professional football team anymore.

CBJ was not a great in-game coach. But I did like his passion for his kids and his expectations for high personal standards and team cohesiveness.

Up until he left them all a week before their bowl game with no coaching staff to help prepare them, a GA calling plays in the box, and parents holding up play cards.

I'm not going to miss the big PUNT TEAM sign being hoisted up right after the 2nd down play is whistled dead.

In addition to leaving his boss, the administration, and his players in limbo for a week while he flirted with every suitor that would come calling only to bide time until Tennessee came open.

Funny how character, passion for your players, family, holding ropes, representing letters, high ethical standards/morals are the standard coaches abide by, until a bigger paycheck or perceived job comes along.
