Amen brudda! BE Tex is not your typical Boise fan (if he is one). The bulk of the Boise fans are excited about going to the BE. I for one am excited! And this potential deal may not be 3.6b, but I can't see it being any where near the 60m either.

Any Boise fan that wants to keep their football in MWC probably thinks the following are members of MWC as well: TCU, Utah and BYU.

Is the BIG EAST all that great right now...NO!!!...but it is still a huge step up from both the MWC & C-USA...the BIG EAST took all the best remaining members of those two leagues except Air Force.

What the BIG EAST did basically was take the "Alliance" idea "BUT" put it under the BIG EAST umbrella & without the dead weight...that why I laugh when members of those two leagues "try" to say they are close to the BIG EAST. Only ECU & USM could compete on a regular basis in Football and in the other Major Sport they would be dead weight in regards to Basketball.

Now IMO will it get the 3.6 Billion...doubtful but also very doubtful it will get the $60 Million...can very well see the 2.6 Billion over 15 years though and that would be a solid Media Deal...now if the ACC wants to just do ND or the 4/5 B1G, SEC or Big XII in the Orange Bowl then the BIG EAST needs to be talking in conjunction with ND to the Fiesta Bowl and try to work something out with the Big XII/Pac 12 with that Bowl.

Memphis football isn't dead weight? SMU and Houston BB aren't dead weight? The BE now has the worst football program in the entire county and two of the worst BB programs. That is the definition of dead weight.

Houston is 2 years removed from an NCAA birth.
Houston just signed a top 10 recruiting class in Basketball.
Houston will begin a $40 million renovation to their basketball arena at seasons end.
Houston has been to 5 Final Fours so history dictates that they are capable.
SMU just started on a renovation of their arena
SMU just hired a Hall of Fame HC for basketball and incredible staff to match.

Also, FYI .... http://csnbbs.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=439

Peace.

Pretty much came to say this. How is houston one of the worst teams in the country? Memphis sucks at fball now, but it wasn't long ago they were going to bowl games every year. At least do some research if you are going to try and make a point.

All of the mentioned teams are working to get better with real $$, while CUSA dead weight is content being that, or in UAB's case is restricted by Bama to be dead weight.

So you would rather have Charlotte, Texas-San Antonio and North Texas over Memphis, Houston and SMU? Is it possible that you are jealous of the Big East, I think so.

Houston's RPI was 214 last year. Don't act like your BB program isn't a dumpster fire. SMUs was 217 and they scored 28 points in a game. Nobody watches either team, nor cares for them. Memphis lost by 44 points to a Sun Belt team in FB.

I'll watch all 3 and care about them, thanks. Sorta the way life works for most FB fans for teams outside the top 10 or 20.

And I guarantee BE games will draw better overall than C-USA games. You don't really want us to pick out the worst C-USA teams and make a comparison, do you?

1 year = forever? Houston won CUSA 2 years ago and has a top 15 recruiting class right now. I'd be willing to be their RPI won't be above 200 again next year or any time in the forseeable future.

That tells us nothing about whether it is a good deal or not. $3.6 billion over 5 years would be mind-bogglingly good, but spread over 20 years it would suck. What we need to know is the amount per-school, per-year.

Let's hope it's a lot closer to 5 years than 20 years. 04-cheers

For what its worth, I noticed that the Boston Herald picked up the Hartford story linked in the OP. Lets see if gets a McMurphy reaction---perhaps another story with updated sources.
