Complicating Factor For Jeff Long
In addition to the issues that Jeff Long will have to face about his football coach lying to him about what happened in the accident and having the University end up with egg on its face, Long is going to also have to address the issue of a University employee having an affair with a subordinate.
When the gal worked for the Foundation as an employee, this issue probably could have been avoided. But she became a direct subordinate employee of Patrino when he put her on the payroll of the football program less than a week before the wreck. This is very much of a no-no under University policy. Let's see how they handle that aspect.

It's simply hard to imagine he's not done. A quick firing would probably be the best thing for UAF. Dragging this out will do a lot more damage in the long run.

You may be right. But with visions of a National Championship dancing in their heads, I will be surprised if that happens. But there is no doubt that Patrino has put Long in a no win situation. No matter what Long does, he's going to piss off somebody.

I'm not a gambler, but I'd be willing to bet that he will not be fired.

That seems to be the latest gossip. Maybe a suspension and some cut in pay. Don't want to do anything to hurt the football program, but embarrassing the university all over the country is fine.

If he is not fired, it's a travesty. He broke every rule in the book. There's no way they can spin this. Too much news out there all over the country. Google Bobby Petrino and read Matt Hayes of the Sporting News article. He says the only thing that can save the university right now is to fire Petrino and hire Gus Malzahn. Very interesting article.
