The worse part about this IMO is that it reinforces sterotypes about the state of Mississippi. Go to some opposing schools' message boards and they're talking about how much of a joke Mississippi is and how USM is a racist school.

Just a damn shame that 2-3 students embarrased USM nationally.

Actually, it shows how worse they are in these other boards you talk about than the couple if kids that actually made The remarks. Sad really, almost as sad as TOGC and some if his remarks....almost.

It was stupid and tasteless, but as far racism goes, this is barely a blip on the radar screen. I don't think you get it.

First of all, in my case, if you read my posts, I was trying to defuse this at the onset (and the middle for that matter) of this thread because I knew how it would end. What set off one of the Miner fans were the dismissive comments (like the one I bolded). The type of comment made by the 3-4 knuckleheads in the pep band is very offensive to some folks, and one cannot be insensitive to their values.

That said, some of the posters I enjoy dialogue with most on this board are USM fans. I don't consider any of them to be anything like the knuckleheads chanting. Therefore, I don't want our relationship with them damaged, or strained.

As for the comments Randad, Mista, and I, were making on page 4 (or post #151, and on) of this thread- they were nothing more than poking fun at the UTEP-insecurity topic brought up by Tampa Bay Tiger (nothing to do with USM).

One thing I notice on threads, is that many folks assume every post is directed at them.
