Yes Cuse fans travel well and they get eyeballs in the seats in MSG, so does Duke. There are plenty of fans of the school that return to the NYC area after graduation, thus the crowd. To say howver that makes them NY's team is a bit of a stretch
Cuse will never be NY's team until the media starts to treat them as such. There is hardly a mention of syracuse on the nightly tv news or in the many newspapers unless its of national interest. You go to a state like Connecticut,Alabama, Tennessee etc, their "state schools" get constant media coverage from whos being recruited, first day of practice to when the coach farted. That doesnt happen in New York State regarding Syracuse outside of its region.
Maybe someday this marketing ploy by Syracuse will pay off, we will see. As of now its just a dream
This simple truth is always lost with some CUSE fans here. It is simply a pipe dream to even try to call itself NYC's team when the school is like 4.5 hours away. It is similar to CAL calling itself LA's team LOL. People in Southern Cal would laugh.
CUSE is not NYC's team or State of NY's team. No one in the state would claim a private school to be state's team. It is not happening in NY state or any state for that matter.
Oh btw, Boston College is CUSE's new default rival now in the ACC. Congrats! I don't care if UCONN ever play CUSE again either. UCONN will use it to schedule national powers like we always do. I would love to see UCONN do another 4 games series with UNC and Arizona. An UCONN vs. Kentucky series would be great for national TV. UCONN could also repeat another series with Indiana since that was a good series for both schools.
You need us more than we need you...pretty sure you'll want to stay on Cuse's good side. (ACC)

I've given up on the UConn-to-the-ACC thing. Not in my lifetime.
I'm not even sure if it would be good for UConn athletics. I have this feeling we'd be another Virginia. That's not my idea of a good time. The New Big East is much more of a gamble, but it looks more intriguing.

Lets see your BBall program have a few bad seasons and see how loyal you fans are. How did they react to your FB program taking a dive? Once Boehiem leaves its a nice long fall ahead of you.
Hopkins handles all the recruiting, and does a lot of coaching. He just doesn't make the in-game decisions. We'll be just fine.

I love how JB became this great coach all of a sudden. For years he was just a guy who could recruit and then just "rolled the ball out" for the players. Now all of a sudden he's this coaching savant and SU will turn into Colgate when he leaves.
