How Does Troy Sign 34?
How do you sign 34? The NCAA limit for signed NLI's for a year is 28.
Did you guys have 6 that you could count back to last year?

You signed 20 last year on National Signing Day.
You signed 15 this December in the early period...
You signed 23 yesterday....
Annual scholarship max is 25. NLI max for a year is 28.
So make scholarships between the two years would be 50. You guys have 58 right there. Did a lot of your class from last year not get eligible?

85 is the number you should focus on...Blakeney has been a Jedi* with the numbers and others are padawans...it works.

So does Troy have an Open House for their football squad? Two legs and a GED and you make the team!!! I have to think this is about 85% accurate of Troy's process.

If they make it through the clearinghouse and the school says yes, what's the problem? Ahh yes, it's the off-season...back to the same-ol'-same-ol'...
Topics in the off-season
1) Oversigning
2) Name-game in Louisiana
3) APR
Can we start the name-game now?

Yes, but there was an official name-change in 2004. My degree has Troy State on it...obviously I graduated prior to 2004. Would you post a link to your school's official name-change, also? Thanks...

Sure...we did the same thing in 1984. Problem was, the purple people in Baton Rouge got mad and reversed it. Imagine if Auburn or Alabama was so insecure, they forced you to keep the State after your name. By the way, I hear Troy State uses the ASVAB as an entrance exam...is this true?

So, that would be unofficial now? Gotcha...we'll go with that...Oh! I forgot to tell you that they have raised the admission standards as a part of the strategic plan...not much of a difference from the rest of the league, but when it comes to athletics, the clearinghouse rules the roost.

It was official...until they went back and made it unofficial. But that's an argument in semantics. Like saying Troy State has the same admissions standards as the rest of the SBC. You could argue semantics and say they have the same admissions standards as Jack In The Box, as long as you can function normally, spell your name some what correctly, and have a valid social security number...you're in!!!

I understand the 85 number was relevant in the past. However, their is hard and fast 25 number each year for entering class. However, that don't matter if you have guys going JUCO who don't qualify.
But just recently to curve oversigning. The NCAA instituted a cap on 28 NLI's. I was just curious how that worked out.
Good Luck to the Troy guys in the Superbowl.

I know of the rule change (curbing does not equate to ending or eliminating...they'll never do away with it), but what we don't know is the numbers, the actual numbers, that TROY is operating with presently. Rest assured that it is within the rules. If it weren't, you'd have heard about it long before now.

It's not semantics...you were UL for a fleeting moment, as you've stated, but now you're not. Claim it for sports, who cares. At the end of the day, you are still the University of Louisiana At Lafayette...Officially. So far as admissions standards go, there may be one or two schools that have higher standards, but I bet they won't be turning down a whole lot of student athletes, if they've been cleared...betcha that.
