8-5 was last year, and we got a few votes before the bowl game when we were 8-4. But we lost by 7 pts to #16 and nobody voted for us in the final poll. We are looking at a possible 12-0 next year. The toughest games we will play are against Illinois, Virginia, and Houston. If lose all 3 of those, we won't deserve to be in the Top 25 because the rest of our schedule is crap.
keep telling yourself that...
Going by the CFN 2012 preseason rankings, we will have a shot:
38. Illinois
40. LA TECH
41. Virginia
66. Utah St
72. Houston
88. Rice
99. San Jose St
108. Idaho
109. NM State
113. UNLV
123. Texas St
124. UTSA
FCS- Lamar
* But there has been some recent talks about possibly replacing Lamar with Oklahoma next year. That would most certainly be a loss.
well, actually everybody has a shot at 12-0 since the season hasn't started...even Memphis ;-)
Keep telling yourself that.

CFN on 2012 Memphis:
117. Memphis (2-10)
It’s a new era for Memphis football after a few years of being among the worst programs in college football. New head coach Justin Fuente’s first task is to improve as pass defense that finished dead last, allowing close to 300 yards per game, Three starters are back in the secondary, but they need help from a pass rush that was merely a rumor last year. Both starting defensive ends are gone, but the real killer is the loss of tackle Dontari Poe a year early to the NFL. Leading tackler Terrence Thomas is done, but the rest of the linebacking corps returns intact. The offense needs playmakers and has to settle on a quarterback after Taylor Reed took over and with Andy Summerlin in the mix. Leading rusher Billy Foster is done, as is top receiver Tannar Rehrer. Four starters return on the O line.

sounds about right, i'm much more excited about Fuente than i was Porter...
i could see Memphis with anywhere from 2 to 4 wins next season...

same is true for Tech...you WON'T go 12-0...more like 5-7 wins.

I have shown you all of this. Tech wins all but head to head and we are tied 5-5 there.
And we're a charter member of CUSA and you're stuck in the WhACk.
So? We'd still beat you by 40. How is that? Poor leadership at Memphis? No talent in Tennessee? Good players don't like Memphis?
If Memphis and LT played 10 times over the next 10 years, Memphis would win at least 7 of them.
How can you say that? You have a brand new coach who has never been a head coach and is inheriting the worst program in the nation. We are playing really well and getting better and about to crack the Top 25. It's going to take Memphis a couple of years just to get back on its feet. I think it can be done, but there is no guarantee of that.
Our brand new coach was the TCU co-offensive coordinator.
You may remember TCU from the Poinsettia Bowl.
Memphis > LT

You can't honestly believe that. If Tech has an average season next year it's a 10 win season, a great season gets 12 a bad gets 9. 8 at the absolute WORST. You can go ahead and quote me on this at the end of next season if you want.... And I will also quote you on Memphis being good for 2-4 wins
