RE: My top EMU FB recruiting targets
Dear Friends,
Well, we lost Kenneth Mouton to Navy. That puts the quarterback recruitment in an interesting position for Eastern. Do we go full hog for Mike Baker, or go for the kid from Cleveland, (sorry can't remember his name) or both? Maybe we end up with no quarterback recruit with this class? Would that be a catastrophe?

WOULD BE FAVORABLE TO SIGN A QB, NEED AT LEAST 3-4 ON YOUR ROSTER. BEST BET IN MY OPINION WOULD BE WILLIAMS. THERE ARE A COUPL OF JUCOS LISTED BUT DOUBT THEY WOULD SIGN ONE. WHO KNOWS?

The QB from CLE is Williams.

I have him listed in my list at the beginning of this thread.

EMU was not on Mouton's radar at all. I was surprised to see many of you comment about him being a prospect these past weeks despite articles where he was directly quoted as saying the teams he was looking at and they did NOT include EMU.

Scout.com indicated that he was to visit next weekend although one of their articles indicated that he only had an 'unofficial' offer from us.

We are now to the stage of recruiting where there is lot of detail as to offers, visits, etc. in these recruiting service articles.

I have NO idea how the QB scholarship will end up... 03-banghead

I'm confused on this recruiting bit. I'm watching the NIU/EMU women's game on television.

It doesn't look students are there.

Are classes out until tomorrow????

RE: My top EMU FB recruiting targets
Dear Friends,
With regard to Mouton, Scout .com had Eastern offering him months ago. In fact, I think they only listed Navy and Eastern, as the only teams offering.
This is what I expressed as a question months ago.... how reliable are these recruiting websites, If as theleftboot suggests, we were never in the game, or as emu steve suggests we only offered 'unofficial' status to him? I guess that leaves us with a complete washout as to the reliability to these websites.

Dennis,

Big weekend. Bigger weekend next weekend.

I think I'm confused even with a date/time applet on my PC. 01-lauramac2

I believe the big weekends are the 13th and 20th.

I have no idea how this trio of Baker, Mouton and Williams will play out.

I had Mouton as my top QB based on ability/signability.

Now sounds like a potential mess.

I hope we didn't loose Mouton because of Baker 03-banghead

Mouton was quoted over THREE weeks ago citing his top schools. He listed Navy first and then 5-6 others. NONE of the others were "EMU". I so wish I could find the link to that article....

RE: My top EMU FB recruiting targets
While the QB situation is very muddled (to say the least).

EMU is getting a visit from Brandon Wilson, RB from Shreveport, La. next week (I think I was wrong about visits - looks like English will go NEXT weekend and the weekend of the 20th).

Going to visit EMU, Washington and maybe FCS Grambling State.

Next weekend sounds like a big weekend for EMU FB recruiting hopes. :)

Interesting prospect. His video shows him breaking takles on almost every highlight run.

Wonder how the EMU staff ranks Lewis and Wilson.

RE: My top EMU FB recruiting targets
Here is another 'longshot'?

Willie Henry - DT - from Cleveland. Three star.

Visited EMU and Hawaii in December (I assume he liked Ypsilanti more. Lol) and have a few BCS visits scheduled in late January.

I assume the very late visits are "Plan B" visits - 'Kind of like if we want to take one more at your position and... we'll offer".

These are schools jumping in late.

If I had known this I'd put him in my 'targets' list.

RE: My top EMU FB recruiting targets
Add another 1/13 visitor as I continue to mine the recruiting sites.

Darius Jackson - ATH from Illinois.

His 3 visits will be Minnesota (taken), EMU and then NIU.

January 13 is starting to look 'huge'. 03-shhhh

Interesting question.

Will he come as an ATH/QB???

(I'd like to have have even as an athlete who can be an emergency QB).

This is a wild, off the wall, but I wonder if Robert Bolden will leave Penn State (he almost did last Spring but Joe Pa wouldn't release him)?

He isn't really too polished as a QB yet but maybe a transfer sitout year and a better fit.

At this point it is all "QB TBD" TBD=to be determined.

No QB prospect can be dismissed out of hand...
