Maize, just out curiousity, did you add Providence over Marquette because of the BE office location or is there another reason?

(I'm guessing) Maize put up Providence, because they're unofficially protected. This is based on the makeup of the conference leadership, throughout BE history.

It just kinda hard to see them kicked out especially since they pretty much founded the league. Founding member vs. New Comer Non Football school.

By the way, if it is in NYC then it would almost have to be @ Yankee Stadium until it built up. Then move it to the "New Meadowland" Stadium.

Got it, thanks guys. I really hate Providence right now.

As much as I hate the possibility of an off campus championship game Yankee Stadium is the best venue in NYC or our games will look eerily similar to the ACC Title Games.

A baseball stadium is a really stupid place to plat a football game! 03-puke

Anything is possible...heck, Rice was a founding member of the Southwest Conf...and after 81 years...they were basically told "Get lost. We don't need you anymore."

Follow the TV $$$$...and thats the best place to start.

It is...doubt it would ever happen...but I think the Commish even TALKING about a Championship Game is a good thing (i.e. agenda to push for 12 football members might be on the table).

Big East would do exactly what the Pac-12 will do and what CUSA have done, let the team with the best record host the game so that the game would be played in a good atmosphere, sell tix, and look good on TV.

....12 members? Perhaps....but what if the NCAA removes the requirement to have 12 teams to hold a championship game?

Unfortunately I feel like the Big East brass is far too shortsighted and passive to make a move like that. They just seem to have the attitude of 'we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings'. Great leadership.

Not quite. Five teams left the SWC: Rice was one that stayed behind until it died. That is a very big difference.

No thanks. Much rather have it in DC if it were a neutral site but the PAC 12 model is the best choice. Im also thinking 12-16.

Wilkie you know you have college bowl games being played @ the home fields of San Francisco Giants, Tampa Bay Rays & the New York Yankees. Plus Yankee Stadium has a history of hosting big time college football games & even the Big Ten is now having games @ Wrigley Field

Yes, indeed. What happens if you have USF vs. TCU?

...it would be an ACC-esque disaster. Same thing could be said for just about any other school in the conference as I don't think the Big East could sell out the new Meadowland stadium and showcasing our championship game in Yankee Stadium would look so bush league on TV.

IMO, the CUSA model where the team with league's best record is ideal. It puts a premium on winning and earning the right to host the game. I don't see any examples where there wouldn't be a sell out or near sell out for our championship games....which would make for great TV.

Just a pet peeve. Can we please stop comparing which model to use in regards to a title game. Instead of using the C-USA reference use fellow BCS AQ League the Pac 12.

The uber rich Big Ten when they had 11 members was rejected by the NCAA to host a Championship Game with fewer than 12 members...so I doubt the NCAA would suddenly approve the likes of conf like the Sunbelt or the big east to do just that.

However, ANYTHING is possible and certainly no skin off one's back if they just ask...as sometimes you might be surprised by the answer.

If there is an NYC Championship Game with a reconfigured, slimmed down basketball conference the league needs to go out of its way to schedule a "Big East Basketball Invitational" of some kind in the city. Get a few big early season OOC match-ups, maybe a double header the night before. It would definitely be added incentive to support the football game.

Yankee Stadium wasn't too bad for last year's game between Notre Dame and Army.

http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2010/11/...ter-train/

But, I agree that the Meadowlands would be a much better venue, as would Lincoln Field in Philly or Fed Ex Field in Washington.

It really depends on how else is added to the football side. It it happens to be bcs school (s) with larger fan bases then the meadow lands could be a possibility

If its ECU and Houston, then Yankee Staduim would be the way to to go
