But heres the rub, ( and Ill admit it torques me off a lot too) sometimes we have a perfectly good thread about schedules or whatever, and someone types in ULL.
The next thing you know we have a cajun's poster make a somewhat smart arse remark along the lines of "Who is ULL we are UL?" and then then the thread degenerates AGAIN into a name issue, then eventually a Louisiana Budget crisis post, followed by a Eager Eagle state legislature report, followed by a LaTech "seperation" refrence.
Now we have a 50 post thread about "Sun Belt Schedule woes" thread that is in reality 10 posts about that, and 40 about the issues listed above. It does tend to permeate a LOT of threads along here.
This is my proposal on solving these issues that seem be bothering
many of our posters:
"
be informed that any off topic reference to Louisiana Special Topics will result in the immediate suspension of all posters involved"
The above clause should be situated at the top of every new thread if possible, or at least stickied. If posters fails to comply, a three to seven day suspension should follow. Three suspensions should then lead to a permanent ban.
* Keep in mind, these special topics can be created in the
smack talk folder or an ongoing
single thread covering
all lousiana special topics on the main forum.
* New scoreboard threads for ULM (and other normal non-issue postings) are obviously ok topics for the main board and should be treated as so and posted onto the main board, but if they deviate to special topics, suspensions should insue. If smack talk begins, but unrelated to special topics, then the topic should be moved to the smack talk forum.
* Louisiana Special Topics: The Name Crisis, Louisiana Budget Crisis, LA Tech Smack Talk. (as outlined by OwlFamily). Again, a single ongoing thread should be created for these issues, or even a new forum outlet since it has permiated our board as much as it has.
It's a shame that it has come to this, but but I feel many will benefit from this. This is obviously just a rough outline and many of you should offer suggestions on how to tweak it, if this is the route we want to take. I realise no one likes to be placed under a set of rules, and many of you will be against this. I did not post this to win friends, but rather to offer a decent solution to the issue at hand. Please review this carefully.
