RE: Message to the Big East....leave CUSA alone this time.
Why wouldn't the big east go on this "crusade"? Sure we know who we want right now but what if by announcing this BYU or Boise express an interest as football onlies? Sure it's unlikely but if you just send an invite to TCU and Nova and be done with it you never know. Also look at all the talk the Big East has gotten out of this. The nation now knows we are making a move, starting a network and have Tags on our side. That's alot of free good press for us in a year where everyone seemed content to kick us while we are down (in the media).

Since ECU isn't going to get an invitation it doesn't matter anyway, I just hope its TCU and VU only so it doesn't hurt the rest of C-USA.

BTW you can go back over the past 2 years via my posts and you will see that I have never wanted ECU to be in the BE, so no sour grapes here. Like the games with WVU, UL, Cinn, and SU but other then them the rest of the conference is a snooze fest. ECU is a southern school and the BE is a yankee conference. We have nothing in common and its just not a good fit for either side.

We have more in common with CUSA programs then the BE programs. I dont think the BE does anything for ECU except potentially get more money. We are already bigger as a program then many of the schools. We play in a full stadium, many of the BE programs play in half empty rented stadiums. And besides WVU, Louisville is the only BE program that has a BCS win and that was over Wake Forest. LOL. I'm done with it and am tired of seeing the BE wave around their AQ to the program who will give in the most.

Have your USF...heard a rumor today that Skip Holtz hates it there, he was stupid for chasing the AQ. I hope no CUSA schools are that stupid, the BE needs other programs (as their fans have been saying for years) then those programs need them. Thats the way I feel about it. If every school took that stance, the BCS would have to show its true colors in a few years and create ANOTHER waiver for the BE for AQ status. At least the BE got that, what did CUSA get from the raid?

Think about it from our standpoint....when you have media types saying, if you don't get in now, your program is doomed.

Well thats the whole freakin point of the BCS, isnt it?? To create the have's and the have not's. To LABEL them. That is elitist.

Yeah, maybe I responded by doing it as well...but its what the BE is doing right now with "terms and conditions".

Now you see why I rant?

Referencing the bold parts:
1) WVU, UL, UC and SU are the only 4 programs you've played recently. When is the last time you've played any OTHER school from the BE?

2) Yankee vs "The South"? So this is what you have to resort to as part of your rant? Contrary to your belief that ECU is not a fit (which I do agree with btw, but for different reasons), your fellow ECU fans disagree with you. LOL!

3) Why don't you tell us which programs in the BE are not worthy of washing ECU's jock?

4) Rented stadiums. Love it. I can't speak for USF, but do you have any idea what the situation is for Pitt and the Steelers sharing a stadium and practice facilities? Do you realize that if it wasn't for Pitt, that Heinz would have never been built? Or that Heinz was designed to double as a college football stadium because both Pitt and the Steelers collaborated to make it that way? Do you know that Pitt owns the practice facilities and sports complexes that the Steelers and Pitt shares, and that this was also part of a collaborative effort by the city, Pitt and the Rooneys in order to strengthen the ties of all 3 to the area? Of course you don't...

wait a sec, so the BE's plan to be selective about membership is elitist, but for other conf its not?
Nebraska to the B10, BC, VT AND UM to the ACC & Utah and Colorado to the P10 had nothing to do with $$. markets, academics and/or prestige? Interesting...01-wingedeagle

Yet you're throwing a hissyfit because the Big East hasn't invited you.

Please name these half-empty rented buildings. As far as our BCS wins that you feel the need to knock explain the Big Ten and ACC who have also struggled to win BCS games. BCS games aren't exactly the easiest games to win.

Have your USF...heard a rumor today that Skip Holtz hates it there, he was stupid for chasing the AQ.

I guess your AD is stupid as well since he has been chasing AQ status for ECU for years. Wow what a baby. Letsd spread rumors because your feelings were hurt! The guy hasn't been there a year and suddenly he is unhappy?

I hope no CUSA schools are that stupid, the BE needs other programs (as their fans have been saying for years) then those programs need them. Thats the way I feel about it. If every school took that stance, the BCS would have to show its true colors in a few years and create ANOTHER waiver for the BE for AQ status. At least the BE got that, what did CUSA get from the raid?

The Big East didn't get a waiver for AQ status we got a waiver for the conference size. You need 8 teams for a conference the Big East only had 7 for one year, that is what the waiver was for. We didn't need a waiver for the AQ because we have met all BCS requirements even during that down period. What did C-USA get? I thought you got that bad ass 12 team All-Sports Conference that a lot of people said would blow by the Big East?

Think about it from our standpoint....when you have media types saying, if you don't get in now, your program is doomed.

Welcome to our world, the same world you were laughing at when the Big East was getting trashed following the raid.

Well thats the whole freakin point of the BCS, isnt it?? To create the have's and the have not's. To LABEL them. That is elitist.

You know what is also elitist? Ripping programs for supposedly playing in half filled, rented buildings.

Yeah, maybe I responded by doing it as well...but its what the BE is doing right now with "terms and conditions".

Yet I didn't see you ranting about this when we were waiting for the Big Ten to make their move. It's funny how it's ok for the Big East to be in that position because the Big Ten is simply doing what they need to do but when the shoe is on the other foot you feel the need to run down our programs, run down our conference and act like a baby.

Now you see why I rant?

Nope.

Period. Why, because Villanova is on board and TCU is another private school that helps them with their AQ.

Elitist anyone?

I want to be on record as right now saying I dont want to be in the Big East. I want to stay in CUSA and work some deal with the Boise State's and Fresno's of the world...they, as is Southern Miss, Houston, UTEP ect...are the populist type programs that don't set out to put other programs down. I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Temple in to the fold. West "by God" Virginia, you guys are welcome too!!

As much as the Big East likes to complain about what the ACC did....they destroyed a very underrated and up and coming CUSA conference. TCU was part of that conference but left when the Big East took Louisville, Marquette, Cincinnati, South Florida and Depaul. Charlotte and St Louis went to the non-football A-10. But CUSA has survived, DESPITE what the Big East did.

I hope the Big East does add another I-AA program to the fold and reaches out to Texas for another Louisville addition for AQ purposes, look what happened to Louisville after joining. Its very hard to maintain that level with all the competition from the real AQ Conferences. While your at it, bring in BYU to the fold, they are actually "holier than thou". Let's see what happens when the B10 comes looking East.

I am looking forward to East Carolina University helping to lead the way for CUSA in cooperation with the Mountain West.

Hey Big East, how's Depaul working out for ya??

This is a Big East Board. If you have such a disdain for the BE, then stay on the Cusa board. But dont bring this childish crap over to the Big East boards.

Exactly cuse, and thanks Bjunk for moving this to the smack board. One thing I noticed about a number of ECU fans, not all, just a number of them, and it's happening on ECU boards, ECU isn't being considered now they feel the need to trash the Big East, teams in the conference and candidates for expansions. Like a spurned lover.
