He was asking Huggs if he knew anyone at UC(or with pull at UC) who could help him get 600 tickets. Huggs told him he could beat the system by making the small required donation to UCats and then just purchasing the tickets from the office and that it would not require a favor from anyone at UC.
Mission Accomplished. I hope the hillbillies next to me at least have sleeves on their blue and gold t-shirts.
Also, I think Huggs might have had to buy two tickets for the same reason that the airlines require certain people to buy two seats for one head.
Before this urban legend grows out of control I will present the facts, which are abundantly absent from the majority of the posts on this thread.
WVU, nor their Alumni Association joined UCATS.
A local WVU Alumni did call our office to purchase group tickets to the game. Thus, they exercised the same opportunity that anyone who calls our ticket office has the chance to empower. When this order is processed this week the seats in the package are on the West Side of Nippert Stadium in the NON-UCATS reserved section with a small number of seats in the southeast corner of the upper deck in the top rows of the stadium.
There is no system beating going on as this whole process is detailed in the 2009 UC Football season ticket brochure that was released to the public via mail and electronically at GoBEARCATS.com in April. If reading is considered beating the system, then, well, I just don't know what to say.

Tickets have been on sale since March so for the better part of 5.5 months UC fans have had the chance to buy group tickets, season tickets, etc... Come Monday individual game tickets will be on sale.
As for locking out fans of other teams, the only way to do that is for UC Fans to buy all the tickets so that there are not any left. Frankly, after general public sales begin in less than 48 hours I expect a large number of UC fans and sidewalk alumni to call and order individual game tickets, mini plans, and group tickets. this is a great home schedule and we the areas only championship team in any sport.
Our group sales team has been pushing large groups around the Tri-State Area all spring and summer, working all week plus every Saturday and Sunday with our BEARCAT CARAVAN and interacting with most every youth football, baseball, softball and soccer organization that exists. Add in the other groups that we have contact with and our sales team has done a fantastic job at marketing UC Athletics at the grass roots level. Getting kids into the stadium along with their teams and coaches is not just an attendance boost, it's a long term recruiting strategy for UC's future fan, student and athlete development. This is why group sales are a big part of our sales push. If other groups from outside the area want to put together a bus or caravan of cars, come to Nippert and tailgate all day, and bring some additional college football spirit to the plate then hooray for them. Our numbers are growing and sooner than you think we will see the day when our stadium is consistently sold out, and well in advance of any game being played. 2009 has the highest sales in advance of the season in UC history and it will only get better in 2010, 2011 and beyond. Add in a great men's basketball season upcoming, a dynamic new coach and vision for women's basketball at UC, plus all-star coaches in our other sports and there has never been a better time to be a Bearcat.

See you at Kings Island on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Bearcats Day... it's going to be a great time!
