Everything I see is pointing to Idaho as the next WAC member. The Boise State Administration is promoting Idaho as the 9th member to the other WAC schools and it sounds like Hawaii and Fresno are on board. I don't know how the votes will go, but if I was a betting man, I would place my money on Idaho to be offered a WAC membership in June.
I know I have talked about this before, but I really like the Idaho Vandal rivalry and want it to continue. Too much fun beating the vandellas to let this rivalry die. Inviting Idaho to the WAC insures that the rivarly will continue.

Gather 'round, kiddies. Aye and it be time for a tale of the mystic land of I --- daaaaa --- hooooo, the land where men are men, and sheep are coy.
Come with us as we drop in on Ma and Pa Tater, and all the little Tater Tots, at dinner, as once again the subject of the family's patter, as they pass around the platter, is -- can the program survive if it plays another game in the Kibbie Dome.

Just a hunch, but I don't think the WAC will expand at all for a couple of reasons.
1. The schools that are leaving forfeit their share of WAC revenues for the upcoming 04/05 year..The remaining 8 members may be more interested in splitting that 8 ways instead of nine.
2. Had there been much interest in Idaho, they probably would have been invited when USU and NMSU were asked to join.
I am just guessing but I wouldn't be surprised by the league standing pat for now..Idaho could still be invited down the road if necessary..
Like I said, though..This is just a hunch..I have no inside info..

I like hunches and Gut Feels too.
If Idaho is invited, they will not share in any revenue for the first 3 years. They will most likely give that up for their entrance fee. The same would go for UNT or LaLa if they were invited.

Now I am not hungry either.
Idaho is in! I have a real bad stomach ache, so I am pretty sure the vandals will be in the WAC in one year from now!!!!!
I look at it as a positive for Boise State. Now Fresno fans will not be able to laugh at Boise State for playing Idaho. Fresno will be playing at the kibbie dome too. Well hopefully not in the Kibbie Dome. The kibbie dome should be banned by the WAC if they let Idaho in.

I agree Bob, if Idaho is invited to the WAC they should have to either build a new stadium or rent Martin Stadium from WSU.
The beer can is the worst football facility I have ever seen, and I'm not just saying that because I like to say bad things about the vandulls ( even though I really do like to say bad things about them :D ).....the turf is the old outdated astroturf that is paper thin rolled out over a concrete slab, it dosn't lay flat and bunches up with loose wrinkles in spots and it is dangerous for the players. It's also very dark inside during games even in the middle of the day. As a photographer it is the darkest facility I have ever worked in and it has an effect on teams passing game.

I predict that Idaho will get an invitation. Louisiana at Lafayette and North Texas already said they aren't interested in joining.

I'm with you Bob. Idaho will get the invite. Not that I'm a Vandull fan, just being realistic. If they don't join, I think we'll stand pat for one more season. I do think it is inevitable that the WAC will add another team though (8 teams for scheduling isn't very practicle).
I also agree that the Kibbie Dome is a great high school practice facility.

So that's why Idaho has never been able to muster much of a passing game. Run, run, run. Now I understand...

Wow, if that's all you can find in my post to disargree with you must be one of the more reasonable vandal fans
And I should have been more specific, I don't think it effects the short to medium passing game nearly as much as it does the deep passes. On the shorter throws the ball is thrown with a much flatter trajectory. On long passes where the ball has to be thrown higher up in the air it is very difficult to follow.
I would imagine though that the more the recievers had to put up with the poor lighing conditions the less it would bother them. If for instance they played all their home games under those conditions as well as practiced under those conditions it wouldn't bother them half as much as it would a visiting team that has to cope with it one day every 2 years.

I think most vandal fans agree that the kibbie dome is not a D1A facility and that is one of the reasons that I would support a WAC membership for Idaho, if they would play their conference games at Martin Stadium.

Even if the attendance component is eliminated the five I-A home game requirement the way it is written requires that 4 of the games be at one site that is designated the home stadium.
With the new tv contracts leading to more and more "off-night" games Idaho would be a great target to host a Thursday or whatever game when they have a date that conflicts with WSU.

I don't know how well Idaho would draw. The Boise State/Fresno Game or Hawaii/Fresno Game or Boise State/Hawaii games would be great draws.
I still think a double header in Martin would be awesome for WAC fans. We could watch our team versus Idaho AND Wazzu versus a PAC10 team matchup. That would be cool. All day tailgating....

I wouldn't trust your "hunch" at all if I were you. Fact is there is NO way that the W.A.C. will have only eight teams in the conference. NONE. It is a horrible number of teams for football, a fact that the Mountain Worst Conference chose to ignore for several years (an indication of their collective lack of intelligence me thinks).:D
The W.A.C. WILL add at least one more school. Count on it. The only question now is WHO will they add?

I think it has to be Idaho. I just can't see the WAC making an offer to UNT or ULL that makes sense.

one problem:
if the WAC invites UNT, then LaTech is happy (or, happier), and the WAC just improved by adding a quality FB program.
if the WAC invites Idaho, then LaTech is unhappy and may, according to si.com, vamoose to the sunbelt, which means the WAC is right back at 8 teams again.
it's all a complex, rich tapestry, and would be moot if the MWC would do the right thing and expand to 12...
frankly, i think we'll be having this discussion next spring, too, because teams will continue shuffling from conference to converence until the NCAA idiots put a stop to it.

Every Non-BCS conference is just a stepping stone to a BCS conference.
Maybe they should add 2 more BCS Conferences.....
One in the West and One in the East.
All BCS conferences should be required to field 12 football teams!!!
