Slap Shot deserves A LOT more respect than that.

We're talking about the All-Time Great Sports Movie here. Maxim even rated it the No. 1 "Guy Movie" of all time.

30 years after it came out- Sports Illustrated did a cover story on Slap Shot a week ago.

Star Trek got a Newsweek cover 20 years after it came out. Slap Shot- same level of profile magazine- 30 years after it comes out.

Only thing I don't like is in the Town Square in Johnstown these days they don't have the Dog Statue anymore. I've gone there looking for it.

Evidently, it either has gone into private ownership or is being refurbished- depending on who you talk to.

I have looked at Night of the Lepus- and I think I see where you're coming from.

Janet Leigh AND DeForest Kelly!

Incidently, the doctor on the Enterprise BEFORE McCoy was Dr. Piper- played by Paul Fix- who played the Sheriff in "Night of the Lepus."

But, of course, I have always wanted to see DeForest Kelly and James Best act together.

AND THEY HAVE!

Appropriately, they were both Sheriffs in a movie called "Black Spurs"
back in 1965.

A movie that- like Night of the Lepus- starred Rory Calhoun!

So let's go with that James Best tie-in, of course. Think of Best before Rosco- and you have to go back to "The Left Handed Gun" in 1958. Ironically, his character was killed by Denver Pyle's.

It's nice to know the two mellowed out by 1979.

I guess the later Pitt post here today will give us an indication of how good the show was and how hung over he is.

Okay, it's not Britny from 1989. The hair is gone and like I said I'm a bit skeptical when Tommy Paris is there instead of Dizzy Dean Davidson.

But I thought he did a decent enough job. His vocals work for the lyrics.

Would have liked to have seen more than just the two staples from the debut album- "Rock and Roll Revolution" was always a fave of mine- and only "Girlschool" and "Long Way to Love" were played.

It could be argued Girlschool and Long Way to Love were the only two songs Britny ever did of note- of course- and that would be right.

So they do some covers that aren't necessarily bad. CCR, for instance.

It is a good show for what they have- which on this tour is only one original member. Which is better than The Kingston Trio- which has no original members- but still.

Tommy Paris did a good job steering the ship. It's a good rock and roll show.

But it's not Britny Fox- and you wish somehow the original members could get back together.

Which leads me to my next subject- which is that Nirvana didn't so much kill the hair bands as much as the hair bands killed themselves with their petty breakups and such.

Britny's a good example of that.
