RE: Expansion may not be over for CUSA
Add JMU and every SBC school except NMSU and Idaho (or forget JMU and include NMSU) to get to 24, then split into 2 12-team conferences that make geographic sense.

They turned the MWC down before Utah St and San Jose St were added I believe, so yeah they do. At least that's what I've seen them claim.
I'm not sure if UTEP turned them down. I know UTSA had an offer from the MWC, but chose CUSA.
I don't think their spots were actually taken by Utah State or San Jose St. I think those two were being added no matter what. Them turning down the MWC did allow SDSU and Boise to return, however. If Boise and SDSU didn't return, would the MWC really be that much better than CUSA anyway?
With Fresno, SJ ST & UT St, yes they would still be better than CUSA

C-USA will get a taste of what a 16 team league is like this basketball season. Maybe they'll want to pursue 16 again down the road if they like how it works.
There is very little difference between lower level FBS and upper level FCS. Look at the facilities and attendance figures of schools like App State and JMU and compare them to everyone in CUSA/MAC/Sun Belt. They are near top for every conference and we also play against very small time programs. I think some posters on here are very quick to forget their school's FCS roots.
We are no ODU. You are correct about that, but they are no JMU either. In Virginia, the most applied to schools in the state are JMU, VA Tech, and UVA. The reason for their popularity is because they have the total package when it comes to academics, athletics, and overall college atmosphere. So, yes ODU has a lot of upside and potential, but there is stuff we can offer prospective conferences that they cannot.
One problem both Arkansas state and Lou-Laffy are no where near bottom FBS anymore. So adding Theses 2 teams would add to the top of CUSA not the bottom hopefuls like JMU
As far as budgets go... ArkSt, U-La-La, Troy, and La-Mon have the four smallest budgets in the FBS. So yes, those schools are at the bottom of the FBS. Both schools are historically losers who lucked into a couple good football coaches two years ago, and both schools suck at basketball. U-La-La hasn't even had a winning season in MBB in a decade.
Nobody in C-USA wants to be associated with U-La-La or ArkSt. C-USA passed on each of those schools 9 times in the past year.
Better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
Arkansas State might only have lucked into two good years of football but...
Won the last 8 vs. UNT.
Won the last 3 vs. MTSU
Won the last two (6-2 overall) vs FIU
Won the last two vs FAU (and didn't meet last year)
And basketball is the only team in the Sun Belt to go .500 vs. MTSU during the two years they've played good basketball.
