THIS!!!
Seriously, this is what the LDS leaders always wanted. They wanted to play a national schedule and the Big East offers that. They can also keep playing ND since the Big East and ND have a scheduling agreement in place to play 2-3 Big East teams a year. We'll see if the Pitt and 'Cuse games stay on the ND schedule.
If BYU comes I think UofL stays.
Though I would like to go to 16 and bring in Fresno and AF.

Agreed. It's the kind of "best of the rest" conference I've thought was inevitable if the SEC, Pac, B1G, B12 and ACC decided against expanding to 16.

Great point and that is exactly why they want their rebroadcasting rights. Where your argue stops at USA... LDS chruch wants to boardcast to the whole world literally.

Redman,
I'd actually switch the divisions that BYU and Navy are in and you may be on to something. Putting them in those divisions doesn't exactly give them that "National" feel that I was hinting at.

Also if they go to 16 the 5 western FB only schools could basically single handily save the WAC. Those 5 plus Seattle, Denver and maybe Portland would be a legit all but FB conference.

I think that's where great negotiating comes into play. You give them those 3rd Tier rights only for home games, but they have to give up something on another front.

Yeah but they wouldnt be getting any of the western teams on the schedule. I mean they would need to create non-geographic divisions then.
Big:
Rutgers
BYU
USF
AF
SMU
SD
Cincy
Temple
East:
Boise
UConn
Houston
Fresno
Navy
UCF
UofL
Memphis
Split the FL, TX and CA teams into different divisions just like the UC/UofL and the Navy/Temple/Rutgers/UConn corridor. Every division team would have a cross over rival.
Rutgers/Uconn, SMU/Houston, SD/Fresno, UCF/USF, Navy/AF, Cincy/UofL, BYU/Boise, Memphis/Temple.

Louisville will not turn down a Big 12 invite to stay and play with BYU! Neither will Cincinnati!

BYU will ask too much from Big12. I could see them coming in at the same time as Navy after their Indy contract has a few years in the belt and they can compare what BE football gets and what thy get

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see BYU end up in The BEast. But I doubt BYU coming to The BEast would make UofL or UC change any expansion decisions...

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I haven't heard a peep about UC. Is there a source for that speculation? I would be surprised if Texas moves off its desire for 10 teams, and some of the teams mentioned are starkly different from the rural schools that are in the Big 12.

RE: BYU still in play
BEH, IMO Rutgers is the Big XII's desired choice over UC, if another BEast team is in the mix. Although I won't be convinced of anything until I see the press release. Right now, everyone is either guessing or hoping...

Thanks bit. I asked because I saw Wilkie mention UC and I thought I must've missed a recent Chip Brown report. You know how quickly this stuff happens. Although for some, I guess it's not moving quickly enough.

I dont get why people are so interested in Navy being in the west. Memphis is much better suited for that honor.
