Exactly...lol
No comparison...UConn reps well at MSG but not like Cuse.

The next time CUSE is NYC's team it will be the first time too LOL. Just because your delusional AD wants to put a banner out does not mean it is true.

RE: Cuse NY's Team
I think the slogan is NY's college team. Meaning the entire state of NY not just the city.
As a native New Yorker I can tell you that not all SYR fans travel to NYC some actually live here.
NYC government will never recognize UCONN- it's a state school in Conn. NYC has no financial interest in UCONN.
Rutgers draws a lot of NYC residents who commute to college So NYC has a finacial interest in repping Rutgers.
The numbers don't lie. restaurants, MSG and businesses in NYC know they are making money when CUSE comes to town. We'll be in MSG again and again and again.
Is NY's college team accurate.
Let's see. In BB SYR is #2 in the nation in draw- certainly that makes them #1 in NYS.
In football, who draws more than SYR 40,000 in NYS. Maybe Notre Dame and that's it.
But ND is hardly NY's college team. SYR can draw 40,000 in Buffalo and in NYC (Yankee bowl). SYR is NY's College team. Rutgers is in New Jersey.

Hey Genius, this thread is about basketball, not football. But since you brought up the subject, I'll just say that Cuse fb has been as bad for as long as Cincy bb.
Nice moderating as always.
Thanks dude.
You're welcome boo. I mean, I get it. You know how corporate boards of trustees and directors and stuff are always filled with old men and then so they don't get called sexist, they always have one female appointed too who doesn't actually have any responsibility? You're kinda the NCAAbbs equivalent of that. You represent the board's women and you have no actual power. I actually kind of respect that. It's cute, you know?

RE: Cuse NY's Team
It's very simple. Do you play in NYC? Are you even remotely close to NYC? Are their at least a half dozen other big time programs closer to NYC than you? Guess what you arent NYC's team. Your alum lives in NYC, thats it.
St. Johns is the cities team and you can talk all the **** you want but thats the fact. You can show boat and talk trash that you beat half a team without a HC and no returning starters from the year before. Go ahead, have fun with that. Next year when we have a full roster of scholarship players and our HC back we will see who is better.
We will see how good Cuse is when their HoF coach retires in a few years. We will see just how cocky the Orange fans are when their BBall program takes a dive like their FB program took. It wont be in year one or two of the new guys regime, but it will happen.
Oh and have fun taking over MSG when you no longer play there in a few years. You'll have an OOC game their maybe every other year, something like the coaches vs cancer tourny or the NIT preseason tourny but thats it. SJU will not schedule you. The ACC will not have it's toruny at MSG. Tobacco RD still runs the ACC and they do NOT want to leave the state of NC. You are the new guy, no one cares what you want in the ACC. Good luck in the next decade. You'll need it.

Lets not get carried away here/ Syracuse is NOT NY STATES team. Just because you call yourself something doesnt make it so.
Yes Cuse fans travel well and they get eyeballs in the seats in MSG, so does Duke. There are plenty of fans of the school that return to the NYC area after graduation, thus the crowd. To say howver that makes them NY's team is a bit of a stretch
Cuse will never be NY's team until the media starts to treat them as such. There is hardly a mention of syracuse on the nightly tv news or in the many newspapers unless its of national interest. You go to a state like Connecticut,Alabama, Tennessee etc, their "state schools" get constant media coverage from whos being recruited, first day of practice to when the coach farted. That doesnt happen in New York State regarding Syracuse outside of its region.
Maybe someday this marketing ploy by Syracuse will pay off, we will see. As of now its just a dream

This simple truth is always lost with some CUSE fans here. It is simply a pipe dream to even try to call itself NYC's team when the school is like 4.5 hours away. It is similar to CAL calling itself LA's team LOL. People in Southern Cal would laugh.
CUSE is not NYC's team or State of NY's team. No one in the state would claim a private school to be state's team. It is not happening in NY state or any state for that matter.
Oh btw, Boston College is CUSE's new default rival now in the ACC. Congrats! I don't care if UCONN ever play CUSE again either. UCONN will use it to schedule national powers like we always do. I would love to see UCONN do another 4 games series with UNC and Arizona. An UCONN vs. Kentucky series would be great for national TV. UCONN could also repeat another series with Indiana since that was a good series for both schools.

This is what Cuse fans dont get. They wont be playing in MSG for much longer. SJU doesnt need Cuse and would be better off NOT playing them. You can severely hurt Cuse's recruiting while helping your own by refusing to play them. SJU always has one of the best OOC schedules every year. Not counting pre-season tournys or conference challenges SJU has Duke and UCLA on it's OOC schedule. We are not in NEED of a tougher schedule.

Yep I agreed. Now that SJU is on the upswing, BE would be wise to redevelop that UCONN/SJU rivalry. It would make a lot more sense for the BE to grow that in the NYC area.
Unlike SU, UCONN is much closer to NYC and Fairfield County of CT is actually part of NYC's TV DMA market with 1M people.

I grew up in the tri-state area - Westchester County (NY) and Fairfield County (CT). My grandparents lived in Asbury Park, NJ.
From what I remember ... UConn dominated Connecticut and Rutgers dominated New Jersey. New York was split; ND was probably #1, but it wasn't clear who was #2. Maybe it was Syracuse, but that certainly wasn't obvious.

that
Hey dude, we get it. You are jealous of the fact that SU bb is on top of the world right now. I feel your pain. You are jealous that we are either number 1 or #2 every year in bb attendance, and that we have such a great traveling fanbase that takes over opponents arenas and that we fill up MSG and that we are going to the Acc. We know that you hate seeing threads like this so you can only rag on what you think is a weakness, SU fb, even though this thread is about bb. I know its like you are coming to a gunfight with with a water pistol, and you asking your opponent to go get his water pistol so your fight will be more fair. Ifeel your pain. Dont worry, Mick Cronin seems to be a decent coach and he may restore Cincy bb back to its former glory, ok? Maybe Mick will even be able to beat SU one of these days before we head off to the Acc. MAYBE.
He probably will. He's done it before a couple times, and that was while we were in serious rebuilding stage.
Anyway, don't go too far bragging about Syracuse's attendance numbers. Having been to your fair town ( and that's being generous) several times, I can report that there is NOTHING else to do there. Certainly no other sporting events to compete for the entertainment dollar.
Mick Cronin has never beaten SU that I remember. I think Kennedy beat SU once in Cincy's first year in the BE.
wrong Cronin has defeated Cuse....in 2008 I believe
