That's a legitimate question. I have to agree with Mark though. The Cuse is almost always good if not very good. St John's is basically in a 25 year suck fest with a few yearly exceptions here and there. At what point do you say this is the "norm"?

I think right now they are the most popular college basketball team in NYC. Football is of course a different story.

Finally, a voice of reason.04-bow

I think Syracuse fans travel well - especially to MSG. But they do not have the most fans within a 50 or 60 mile radius of NYC.

In basketball they definitely have the most. Football they've got plenty but the passion isn't what it once was.

I agree. I have no idea if this poll exists and is accurate. If it does exist, my thought would be that if you expand out to a 60 mile radius you're including Rutgers campus and going well up into Connecticut. However, how many of those people are actually attending a game at the Garden?

To put it another way, I don't think most are mentally including Greenwich or Piscataway when they answer the question "who is NYC's team?"

We do ok in football...we travel well to several locations including USF.

USF hasn't exactly done much to brag about for fan support

We have not been around as long as Cuse has. I can guarantee you that had we had the years and tradition cuse football has had we would have way better support. Florida s a football state NY not so much

Easy to say...impossible to prove.

Guess what?, baske
tball kinda counts in the Big East and your attendance is embarrassing. Hopefully your new, improved SunDome will get some fans back.
It is what it is.our new sun dome and winning will bring fans back but I'm not blind to realities our state is football first and our basketball support would never match cuse even if it wad top 10. With cuse is the opposite basketball is huge in your area sorry if you are too sensitive to be realistic about it. By the way pointing at Miami as an example backs up my point because for a long time Miami students were mostly northeners from ny

Hey Genius, this thread is about basketball, not football. But since you brought up the subject, I'll just say that Cuse fb has been as bad for as long as Cincy bb.

Nice moderating as always.

And don't fall back on the "cmon man it was only a joke" or the "he started it" either.

CUSE has a lot more fans show up for their road hoop games than they do for their road football games.

Their hoop fans, especially along the East Coast...will make the drive if Cuse ever comes to town (i.e. Cuse fans that live in/ near DC, Tampa, NJ, NYC, etc...).

Cincinnati and Syracuse both were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year, so not sure how that makes sense, unless you are calling Syracuse bball bad?

It makes as much sense as one of your fellow Bearcat fans saying that SU fb has been "bad since forever", when SU just won 8 games and went to a bowl in 2010. (which was SU's 4th bowl game in 10 years.)

Nothing to brag about dude. I know SU fb has been bad since realignment, but is improving. But so is Cincy bb. Its been bad but improving, which is the point I was making since, yet again, another Cincy fan tried to derail a thread about SU basketball by bringing up how bad SU fb has been. When folks unnecessarily trash the Cuse, I will defend SU until the day I die.

Hey dude, we get it. You are jealous of the fact that SU bb is on top of the world right now. I feel your pain. You are jealous that we are either number 1 or #2 every year in bb attendance, and that we have such a great traveling fanbase that takes over opponents arenas and that we fill up MSG and that we are going to the Acc. We know that you hate seeing threads like this so you can only rag on what you think is a weakness, SU fb, even though this thread is about bb. I know its like you are coming to a gunfight with with a water pistol, and you asking your opponent to go get his water pistol so your fight will be more fair. Ifeel your pain. Dont worry, Mick Cronin seems to be a decent coach and he may restore Cincy bb back to its former glory, ok? Maybe Mick will even be able to beat SU one of these days before we head off to the Acc. MAYBE.
