President Jimmy Carter turns 100
Quote:ATLANTA (AP) — Jimmy Carter reached his 100th birthday Tuesday, the first time an American president has lived a full century and the latest milestone in a life that took the son of a Depression-era farmer to the White House and across the world as a Nobel Peace Prize-winning humanitarian and advocate for democracy.

Living the last 19 months in home hospice care in Plains, the Georgia Democrat and 39th president has continued to defy expectations, just as he did through a remarkable rise from his family peanut farming and warehouse business to the world stage. He served one presidential term from 1977 to 1981 and then worked more than four decades leading The Carter Center, which he and his wife Rosalynn co-founded in 1982 to “wage peace, fight disease, and build hope.”

“Not everybody gets 100 years on this earth, and when somebody does, and when they use that time to do so much good for so many people, it’s worth celebrating,” Jason Carter, the former president’s grandson and chair of The Carter Center governing board, said in an interview.

Well congratulations President Carter, happy 100th!

He might have set a record for longest time in hospice care. IIRC, most people die within days or weeks once they move there.

He’s trying to outlive Pedo Joe in the battle for worst living POTUS. Once they both kick the bucket, it falls on Obama

You sure do put a lot of effort into letting people know you don't care about things

He's still as effective today as he was in the 1970's.

True.

But doesn’t really need to be said at the present time.

Yep the literature is pretty clear on this- 50% of hospice patients are dead within three weeks. Roughly only 7% of hospice patients ever live beyond six months and hardly any live another six months after that.

It begs the question whether Carter’s condition was as serious as reported when he was first admitted.

God Bless President Jimmy Carter!
While I would never have voted for him, you never questioned the love he had for his country.

President Carter is a better man than he was president. In the end, isn’t that really what matters?
He’s lived his faith since walking out of the Oval Office over 44 years ago. He is an example of what being Jesus to the world looks like.

Happy Birthday Mr. President!

Happy belated Birthday, President Carter! His grandson has said he's just hanging on to cast his vote for Kamala...hope he makes it and gets to see her win and take the oath of office before he is called home.

I don't think he can make it to 2028, but never say never.

There's video of him being wheeled outside to watch a flyover in his honor. He doesn't look like he's still here. May be a situation where the mind is gone but the body ain't giving up.

It's on X. It looks like his family is rolling grandpa from Texas Chainsaw Massacre around

It's pretty despicable to use the man as a prop, and he isn't saying anything with his mouth locked open...
