East: Florida, Georgia, SC, UK, Tenn, Vandy, Alabama, Auburn
West: Ole Miss, Miss St, Ark, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, TAMU

I'd be game for Georgia-Alabama every year!

But East/West should be for divisions only, keep best two in the championship game.

How do you decide which the "best two" are, if not by division champions?

Same way all the conferences are doing it now. Is anyone still using divisions now?

But now there are only a relatively small number of protected rivalries. With 8 team divisions there would be great disparity in who you draw as crossover opponents. And I doubt Alabama wants to give up Ole Miss, Mississippi State and LSU on a regular basis.

If the SEC went to divisions now, how would Alabama not be in the East? If you kept the 2023 divisions, are you going to put Oklahoma or Texas in the East? I'd rather see Alabama play Georgia and Tennessee than the two Mississippi schools (although seeing Alabama play Lane Kiffin annually would probably be good in the near future). And even if you put Alabama in the East, do you think Alabama-Vanderbilt is going to be competitive the next 10 years (yeah I know this year but you think is the new normal)? Texas-Mississippi State? There's a reason to get rid of all these annual matchups and not have Georgia-Texas once every 7-8 years.
