How do you know this? I like DeSantis. I voted for him in the Georgia primary and I hope he gets another chance somewhere down the road. But the MSM was always going to be protective of the Dem. nominee whether it was Biden or Harris or whoever. That has nothing to do with Trump.

I think Trump has actually run a very disciplined campaign this time. Unlike 2016 or 2020.

Simple. DeSantis has more broad based appeal. He only gets into it when attacked. Left unprovoked he's just about the issues and progress he made, and he focuses heavily on tangible benefits he's provided to Florida.

Trump did what he had to do to get the GOP nomination - he appealed to his block who is the biggest part of the GOP. However, he's continued to run his campaign as if he's still trying the get the nomination and not trying to broaden his appeal.

And come Wednesday November 6th, we'll be able to do a post mortem if it doesn't change PDQ.

The interview at the NABJ convention wasn’t a “trying to get the nomination” type of thing. The interview with Elon Musk wasn’t either. Neither was sending Vance out to do the gauntlet of Sunday talk-shows. Or holding a rally in the South Bronx, or another rally in Minnesota. These are all general-election moves, and for the most part they have been well-played by Trump/Vance.

It sucks that the polls have shifted in the past 3 weeks. (No, seriously — it does). That doesn’t necessarily mean that Trump is doing it wrong.

Bringing in a VP candidate who doesn't appeal outside of your own base didn't help him either. He needed someone who could help court some of the women... he brought in one that doubled down on everything they don't like about Trump. Haley would have been a much better choice even if she didn't appeal to his base because his base is voting for him anyway.

My personal choice would have been Huckabee-Sanders.

But I have no regrets over Vance. The guy has been crushing it so far. In fact, my guess is that he is what has the Harris campaign most terrified at this point, particularly in light of the absolutely atrocious Mostly Peaceful Walz.

I wouldn’t have picked Vance, but I have to admit he hasn’t made a single bad move in the past 4 weeks. The “cat lady” comment (not really that bad in the first place) is from a podcast in 2021, and is only bothersome to people who were locked in for Biden/Harris/Whoever no matter what. Not to mention that Walz has zero appeal outside of the Blue base, himself.

True as far as it goes. But would she have accepted it? I don’t see a drop of evidence to support that. She gave a pro-forma endorsement earlier this summer, and then gave a decent (not bad, not great, just decent) speech at Milwaukee. I don’t think she’s willing to go beyond that.

Certainly not saying that Walz was a good choice... I think Harris went with the veteran white male to try to offset the black woman thing and attempt to bring in more older white males.

You may be right... but there were other people out there that could have softened the edges on Trump instead of doubling down on the MAGA crowd.

The only thing that Trump needs to change is his comically stupid habit of taking shots at his own goal. The rest of the team is strong, and they will have the fans very much behind them (per the video in the OP).

Kamala Kameleon has too many problems to overcome, and absolutely no skills to even effectively try. She is relying entirely on the paid refs and the corrupt stadium announcers to somehow win the game for her. They'll do their best, but they cannot themselves win the game without her at some point stepping out onto the field. When that happens, I predict it will be game over.

UNLESS Donald keeps up his needless nonsense of futzing around and not taking the game seriously. He, and only he, can lose this game.

I hear you, AM. However, I fear that Trump is making the same mistake that he did in 2020. The constant name calling of Harris is not going to help him win.

People really need to stop underestimating Harris. She may not be Obama, but she is definitely not Biden. Not only that, but women are going to vote blue no matter who thanks to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Every election from here on out, a supposed nationwide abortion ban is going to be hanging over the Republican nominee's head.

I wish Trump would stop trying to think that it's 2016, and he's still running against Hilary, but he's not. But, unfortunately, he would be the last to know that. I really want Trump to win, because if Harris wins, America as we know it will be over, and the left will begin building the concentration camps to send every single right winger to. That's the future if Harris wins, and I fear she will pull it off.

HE GOT ELEVEN MILLION MORE VOTES IN ‘20!!!

What did he do wrong?

Please explain what’s wrong with the MAGA crowd?

Let me give a try:

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with the MAGA crowd as people. You are not going to find a more solid set of Americans anywhere else.

The problem is that they are capped at somewhere around 35-40% of the population. Donald Trump is smart enough to understand that. But he so far has done precious little to reach beyond his comfort zone.

What AM said.

At some point you have to start trying to appeal outside of that base.

There’s nothing wrong with Vance or what he says. It threatens the left. That’s a very good thing.

The MAGA base is 35% of the electorate. How do you win with only that 35%? Get real. You guys have to get out of your circle and look around at the rest of society. MAGA has some awesome traits... but those ideals don't translate across all of society. Either Trump Republicans start reaching out to bring more people into the camp or we continue to lose elections and complain about the Democrats.

And you think people want to continue with open borders, foreign oil, electric car mandates, crime everywhere and prices so high you can’t step out of your house?
Wise up dude. You’re just delusional in your Trump hatred.

No. And I didn't say to dump Trump. I said a VP candidate that reached out to more than what you just put above makes way more sense than a double down of the policies we already know we are getting with Trump. Find a candidate that can soften the edges
of Trump and possibly bring people who otherwise has/had zero interest in voting for him beforehand.

Ok, fair enough but to say Vance doesn’t do that is a matter of opinion. The problem is for that thought process, because he’s on to the lib narrative and won’t put up with that, makes him bad??
I totally disagree. That makes him no-nonsense and smart.

AND the interviews he did this past weekend were beyond biased. It was obvious and almost criminal. He sniffed them out and called them on it. THAT’s what’s needed. Wusses are not wanted or needed on the right.
