I'm all for eventually dropping "State" and simply being Tarleton University, like Towson did it back in the day. Much more dapper.

It should be Tarleton A&M and probably would’ve been decades ago if NOT for the Dunderheads who thinks the Universe revolves around College Station.

It cost them UTA. Although I believe the UT system at present is a better fit for them.

Only other name to consider would be Central Texas A&M. Stephenville is only 1 hour away from the geographical center of Texas.

Stephenville never needs to be part of the equation just like Commerce should’ve never been in the equation

There already is a Texas A&M Central Texas though. The resulting confusion would be amusing though.

I had no idea... TAMUCT. I just looked up their symbol. Wonder what they put on the front of their baseball hats.

I don't think they have any sports. They're a commuter school in Killeen that caters to the military/vets.

TAMU Central Texas was at one time an arm of Tarleton, just like Tarleton-Fort Worth. It was meant to be a satellite campus for Tarleton. It was first called Tarleton-Central Texas. The A&M System wanted Tarleton to get it all established and the eventual goal was for it to be its own independent school.

During my junior year of high school I took a tour of Tarleton and remember the tour guide mentioning Tarleton-CT in Killeen. I had never heard of it before that despite growing up less than an hour from Killeen. Will Tarleton-FW eventually become A&M-FW too?

Most of us hope not and want it to remain with Tarleton due to the athletic fees the students will generate.

That's right! Nor do we want The University of Texas at Arlington at Fort Worth at West coming in and poaching potential Tarleton-Fort Worth students! They are a literal threat to the growth of our athletic budget. I mean, seriously, why put a campus so close to Tarleton's?

UTA has had a branch in Fort Worth for decades. Wanna get all pissy, let me turn it around and say why would yall put a branch in Fort Worth so close to our campus?

"Branch" lol...you mean that office of cubicles above the train station? Give me break. Tarleton has had a campus in Forth Worth since the 70's. First a medical technician school downtown, then a wholly-occupied high rise off Camp Bowie. UTA followed Tarleton to Fort Worth, and now that we've built a full-blown standalone CAMPUS, they are following us again. Be bold and chart your own path, is all I'm saying.

Yes, that's pissy. At least UTA stayed in its county. Good luck with your nursing program, hoping they will not lose accreditation.

If I’m not correct Ft Worth has a population of 1 million. Tarrant County has a population of 1.8 million and this doesn’t include others close by.

That being said, I’m positive there is room for everyone including TCU in Ft Worth.

Thank you for a more even-keeled approach Blue Dragon. I tend to agree with your assessment. Seems off to me that you want enrollment to an hour off-campus for student athletic fees that they won't go to at much of any measurable rate. The totasl per student is near the higher end of the State, but not the craziest. It is however, several thousand dollars, most likely in student loan debt by the time it is all said and done.

It’s official. BOR has approved new name to begin immediately.

East Texas A&M University.

Nice, wonder how much they redesign logo/lettering.

They should go back to the diagonal stacked ET with the lion resting on the top of the T. That was a good one.

Looked that one up, pretty cool. You could easily do that same logo with ETAM, or keep it ET as WT does the same.

ESPN is usually late to the party. Though I imagine this was easier as the entire University went from something to something else entirely. Louisiana fought ULL for over a decade from ESPN.
