Jacksonville got great news today when it was announced that Robert McCray removed his name from the NBA Draft and will return to the team. McCray was 3rd team all ASUN and scored 91 points (30.3 ppg) in the ASUN tournament. JU returns a nice nucleus with starters McCray, 6-9 Stephon Payne and 6-2 Marcus Niblack. JU also returns 6-9 Donovan Rivers (15 mpg) and 6-2 Zach Bell (21 mpg). They also are adding probably the best incoming Freshman class since the early Cliff Warren days.

The Bisons also will return Jacob Ognacevic who averaged 17.7 ppg in 2022-23 who sat out last year with injury.

JU has the Top Returning Scorer (McCray) and Rebounder (Payne) in the ASUN

Sorry to see Hatton go, but I think Watkins and/or Branson may very well be an upgrade from Suder (Watkins, in particular, seems like the playmaker type BU really missed after Dylan Penn).

By the way, saw where BU will play VCU in November.

EKU will play at Pitt Dec 11.

I'm liking the JU conference schedule a lot better than last year's. A year ago JU was on the Road for 5 of the first 7 games and it included trips to FGCU, Stetson, EKU and Bellarmine. This year JU starts at home vs Lipscomb (prob the preseason favorite) and APU (another favorite). A couple road games versus rebuilding teams EKU and Bellarmine and then home to host UNA (another Top 5 team IMO) and CAU. They have a tough patch late with 4 consecutive road games in 8 days vs CAU, UNA (where we always seem to struggle), FGCU and UNF. Their last three games will be in Jacksonville. Overall though I like the schedule.

Probably won't be coming up to The Shoals this year. We have talked about it and I have heard it is a cool area but have some other game trips planned. We are going to Orlando/UCF, Gainesville/UF, Greenville SC/Furman and we always make the Stetson game in Deland.

Bart Torvik's analytics/projections for the 2024-25 (link below) season are out and it is pretty interesting.
He projects the ASUN as follows (1) Lipscomb, (2) UNA, (3) Jacksonville, (4) FGCU and (5) UNF. He also projects the Top Ten contributors per team with their projected stats. I found JU's to be very plausible. Check it out, I would be interested what everyone thinks of where he has their particular team.
