B4 Rice does what Rice does-- runners on the corners with just one out...the good news is we didn't strikeout....the bad news is we hit into a DP. I can't remember ever following a team so inefficient offensively.

Promising start with a leadoff single by Dukes and then a 1 out E4 putting runners on the corners, but a 1-4-3 DP ends things quickly.

JD flirting with danger again in T5. HBP, single HBP, JD’s 4th of the game, load the bases with one out.

4U - 3 DP ends the threat. More Houdini magic! 0-1 going to B5.

And McCracken gets out of it with an inning-ending DP (what should have happened in the 3rd inning, when we threw the ball into the dugout).

The hard hit ground ball hit Devenny in the foot—amazing. Which, apparently, is scored as 6 unassisted (it was in front of the SS) and a FC for Dukes. I couldn’t have told you how to score that if my life depended on it.

After 6 innings and 102 pitches, McCracken yields to Fernandez to start the 7th

2nd hitter for UAB in the 7th Ks, but reaches 1B on a PB and then steals 2B. 3-1 moves the runner to 3B with 2 outs. 3U ends the inning. Nice job working around the trouble for Fernandez.

Duffield comes within an inch of a tying solo shot, but the Owls go down 1-2-3 on three straight fly outs to RF.

Trouble in the 8th as Hernandez leads off with the 5th HBP of the game. After a flyout to LF, Hernandez uncorks two WPs to move the runner to 3B.

Big K gets the second out

Reidel makes a nice play on a slow roller to get out of the inning. On to the bottom of the 8th, still down 1-0
