Vandy, Wake, and Duke seem to be in the top 25, with the same tuition issue.
Vandy, Wake and Duke allow academic aid added to any scholarship received (Ex: 30% Academic + 25% Scholly = 55% etc.). Rice does not. Most private schools provide other grant aid even to upper middle income families...Rice does not. However even 55% of an 85K bill is hardly enough when compared to quality public universities. It's a problem that, sadly, is only going to get worse for universities like Rice that for some reason refuse to "stack" academic and athletic aid.
Until University Admin remedies this mess, nothing they say about Athletics being an important part of the University and how they fully support D1 Athletics should be believed. It just lip service.
Nailed it!!!!

I thought so. Rice better do something about it, or nothing will change. Cruz isn't a miracle worker. All those billions of dollars, and they can't help partial scholarship athletes? Not right at all.. Points.

At least the Owls hold the tie breaker, 3-0 in head-to-head competition.
Sad to see two former Owl greats struggle.
Here's the difference (as I've mentioned before), Rice has way more to offer in terms of facilities, location and academics (albeit way to high of cost) than HCU. So, if you want to normalize the comparison Berkman is doing a much better job than Cruz.
I wss going to make that point, but didn’t see the need for piling on.
You could also argue that Cruz plays a much tougher schedule than HCU.
100% agree on the schedule difference. Non-Conference is comparable but the American is much tougher than the SLC.
Just checked Warren Nolan RPI. Rice at, sadly 214, HCU at 222 so not much difference.
