I really don't think so. Drexler failed because he was too lazy to do the work. I think Jose is really making the effort. That's what's so sad about this.

Perhaps because both he and his wife are Rice alums and from Houston. He'd no longer be replacing a legend (The OG), but rather would have the opportunity of turning a once storied program around and back to national prominence. Assuming the salary is there (and I'm pretty sure it would be), I think he'd be hard pressed to turn it down.

I haven't seen alot of the team this year, but my observation is that we're a mediocre to decent team with godawful relief pitching. How many games have we lost simply due to walks, WP's and HBP's??
This problem hasn't improved in 3 years of coaching and uber-sophisticated pitch training technology. It's simply unacceptable for college level pitchers to have control that is this abysmal. Seems to me that it's time for a new pitching coach.

It's not just the relief pitching; the offense stinks as well. No one is hitting above .290, and we have 4 starters hitting below the Mendoza Line. Couple that with a lineup that strikes out double digit times even against Sunday and mid-week pitching, and it's difficult to see them winning more than one-third of their games.

I see that tonight's Jose Cruz, Jr. radio show has been postponed until next Monday.
