If they don't like this country I am sure I can get a gofundme drive to pay them to move to the country of their choice.

They didn't leave the court when the anthem was played, and certainly not because the anthem was played. But you can always count on Twitter to find fault and feed hostility.

He’s reading too many LA Times hit pieces. Hard to blame them really, UCLA football and MBB are a punchline these days, Ohtani is gambling his way out of baseball, the rest of their pro teams are various levels of bad to decent… WBB is all they’ve got to talk about.

UCLA Football and UCLA basketball are a punchline these days? UCLA football fans are happy these days with the new coaching staff. They won 8 games last season, crushed USC at the Coliseum, won their bowl game, and got rid of Chip Kelly. Not a bad season. The first day of spring practice today had fans and recruits in attendance. That never happened under Chip. They are bringing back the spring game at the Rose Bowl, which Chip got rid of. They are engaging the alumni, which Chip would never do. The high school coaches were happy to see Chip go. As for basketball, UCLA went 16-17 this season with a very young squad. They will be better next season.

There are too many pro teams in Southern California for the LA Times to cover. They really don't have time for hit jobs. With the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Ducks, LAFC, LA Galaxy, Angels and Dodgers, there is a lot going on at this point in time. USC is looking for a new head basketball coach. The Chargers and new head coach Jim Harbaugh had their first day of their offseason program today. The LA Times was covering that.

In Southern California today, the temperature was 75 degrees with blue skies. In this kind of weather, nobody is losing any sleep over the inconsistent Lakers or the drama with the Dodgers. It is just not that important.

'Whoa. Look at those ratings up there!'

ESPN:
Iowa's 94-87 victory over LSU in the Elite Eight of the women's NCAA tournament Monday night averaged 12.3 million viewers on ESPN, according to Nielsen. That makes it one of the most-viewed games in any sport other than NFL football over the past year.

Iowa-LSU outdrew all but one of the five games in last year's NBA Finals, along with the clinching game of last year's World Series (11.48 million)

RE: 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Thread
Just to add to this matchup:

https://www.espn.com/womens-college-bask...eady-march

TLDR: "Letters from college coaches stacked up at her house in those days. Her parents kept them from her until late in the process, trying instinctively to protect as much of her childhood as they could. I think they knew even then. Her dream school was, like everyone else, UConn. She was growing up and learning for the first time about being watched, about reputation. A lot of college coaches watched the same body language sequences Meyer did. Most didn't mind. Dowling's open gyms filled with the best of the best coaches in the country. One absence was conspicuous, though.

"Geno never came," Meyer said."

(Dowling was Clark's high school and Meyer was her high school coach)

Geno Auriemma on Caitlin Clark:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/w...r-BB1kYjNQ

TLDR Version: Duh

“I committed to Paige Bueckers very, very early, and it would have been silly for me to say to Paige, ‘hey, listen, we’re going to put you in the same backcourt and I’m going to try really hard to recruit Caitlin Clark.’ I don’t do it that way. Caitlin obviously is a tremendous player, a generational player, but if Caitlin really wanted to come to UConn she would have called me and said ‘Coach, I really want to come to UConn.'”

Also in the article:

“Honestly, it was more I wanted them to recruit me to say I got recruited,” Clark told ESPN. “I loved UConn. I think they’re the coolest place on Earth, and I wanted to say I got recruited by them. They called my AAU coach a few times, but they never talked to my family and never talked to me.”

I know I'm going to be accused of shoving the women's tournament down everyone's throat, especially shoving my girl down my throat. It's going to be hard for Iowa/UConn to top Iowa/LSU in viewership but I'm going to die trying to make sure it does!

I feel women's basketball has arrived when men are excited about it.

Both higher seeds won in the semifinals to make the higher seeds 53-9 for the tournament. The final is between two #1 seeds.

I don't think so honestly. Once whining Clark and Bucky Bueckers are gone, I think the sport will return to status quo.

That's the risk you run when you make the hype about individual personalities. Hakeem and Patrick just weren't the showmen Magic, Larry and Michael were. NBA had a bit of a slump. Not a big one, but definitely some decline in interest.

Of course there was a drop off after Magic, Larry, and Michael and likely will after Caitlin. But I guarantee you women's basketball will be way better off post Caitlin than pre Caitlin.

Women's officiating not keeping up?

Although in fairness, the men's officiating seems to be getting more and more spotty.

Plenty of stars in the wings - JuJu for one, who could surpass both.

Do you have pet names for male players as well?
