They didn't leave the court when the anthem was played, and certainly not because the anthem was played. But you can always count on Twitter to find fault and feed hostility.

Twitter can take anything and turn it into hostility. World’s worst platform.

just googled it and the answer is no.

UConn being one of them isn't surprising, but the odds that NC State would be the other one are astronomical.

Wonder what the Vegas odds of UConn and NCState having both men and women in final four would have been.

Apparently, LSU is rarely present for the anthem. Mulkey has noted this. I don't think it has anything to do with a protest or being anti-America.

It upset a bunch of idiots so I’m glad they did it, even if it wasn’t for the reason the idiots thought they did.

RE: 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Thread
The LSU coach determines when her team moves out to the court. Some teams, a coach will hold her team back until the last minute to start play as part of a psychological strategy. If they delay beyond what the timer specifies, the team will get penalized. Doubtful though, that provides any real advantage because the motive is obvious. It doesn’t have anything to do with political views. LSU is in one of the most conservative states. If it was a public display of defiance to pledge, LSU would experience aggressive pressure to address the matter immediately. That simply isn’t the situation. That team just wants to play and win if in the cards. They lost.

He’s reading too many LA Times hit pieces. Hard to blame them really, UCLA football and MBB are a punchline these days, Ohtani is gambling his way out of baseball, the rest of their pro teams are various levels of bad to decent… WBB is all they’ve got to talk about.

No odds bc nobody would have bet that.

I personally don't care, but I could see how some folks could find it disrespectful to blow off the national anthem.

Although LSU did not intend any disrespect, the fact that they treat the national anthem as kind of an afterthought, not worthy of their time, that could still come across as disrespectful.

I can see playing both the Star Spangled Banner and O Canada before NHL games. But as far as I'm concerned, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the former weren't sung before other games. At events like the Olympics and World Cup it will (hopefully) be played often.

So the LA Times now is pissed that a school didn't show up for the National Anthem? Even though they seemed to have no problem with Kaepernick kneeling? I don't think you truly believe that, Bryan?

If LSU is acknowledging the Anthem away from public view then that's fine with me, personally. If they are talking X's and O's during the anthem, that's disrespectful IMO. The Anthem is a reminder to me of the sacrifices made so we can play silly games, like basketball.

Looks like we have a new face/name in women's college basketball announcing:
https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/ryan-ru...8-lsu.html

Meanwhile, I don't think Rebecca Lobo will be visiting Albany anytime soon...
https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/rebecca...dcast.html

I've made fun of a lot of small towns on this board (including the one I'm from) but I'm not Rebecca Lobo! People care more when SHE says it and it's on national TV!

I took pause when I heard Lobo note there is "nothing to do" in Albany. It was not malicious but it might have exposed Lobo for being a person with very few hobbies and interests.

As the old saying goes: People who easily get bored are typically boring people. (Not suggesting Rebecca Lobo is a boring person, to be clear.)

I used to live in Knoxville during Pat’s heyday and worked with a guy who was a big Lady Vols fan and supporter. He HATED Geno. I asked him about Pat’s relationship with Geno and he said she tolerated him just because it was part of the job but she clearly wasn’t exchanging Valentines with him.

Bueckers getting little credit or press this March, but she is gettin’ it done. And either team will prove a worthy adversary for USC, assuming they get by NC St ofc.

Here's the post with the names...
