You go 9-9 at Georgia or USC in the SEC and you go to NCAA. And the expectations aren’t as big there

You did not say that is how they think but that is certainly what you are implying.

You have now flipped to a completely different conversation... You said coaches would be leaving us to go to any mid-tier P5 school. I disagree with that. Would coaches leave mid-tier P5 schools to come here? I do not know but I feel very confident a successful coach here is not leaving for one of them.

We have just as good of a shot at the NCAA tournament has any of the schools you listed above, this is not football with an extremely limited number of playoff spots. 68 teams make the NCAA tournament... There is no reason the American can not consistently have 3 teams in and there is also absolutely no reason Memphis should ever not be in the top 3 of the conference, sans the occassional odd ball year.

Memphis has everything a coach needs to build a national championship level team… fan support, facilities, NiL money, basketball budget, recruiting hotbed. What it lacks, and whats its lacked since Calipari left, is leadership.

Amazing how just a month ago everyone was talking about Penny winning some coach of the year award. Now it's shifted to who our next coach should be.

I think his point is largely...Who can get Beard to leave Old Miss or Pearl to leave Auburn? Only 10-ish programs in the entire country.
