Dickson referred to Djokovic as "deplorable" and seemed to have a singular fixation on his unvaccinated status. "He says he wants more information, but how much more does he need? More than 10 billion doses have been administered worldwide and there is now a wealth of evidence out there," Dickson wrote in 2022.

Despite being a constant target of Dickson, Djokovic shared a respectful message of condolence on X.

Stinky, son of an orphan. No silver spoon here, and my family lives better than when I grew up. I can accept generational improvement, but am oh, so tired, of stupid equity bull**** like FAFSA, where if you are responsible and save for college, and your neighbor, who is not, and spends recklessly, gets federal money relief while I get I nothing. That's bull****. Our government is broken, corrupt, and blatantly political. When CW2 comes, we are ready. I wish it not to happen, but understand in my gut that it is likely needed and unavoidable.
