i don't think we can be so reductionist as if that one data point explains the outcome. Of course i agree it contributed but there were a lot of misses from the field that also contributed.

i'm also having a hard time seeing what Jamille brings to the table that Ody doesn't at this point. Jamille has a flashy sportscenter-quality dunk every now and again, but Ody brings a lot more energy and effort that can offset the four points that Jamille gets us a game, especially on the defensive side of the ball where Jamille seems, quite frankly, absent.

Jamille's help side defense was dreadful yesterday and really stood out on a day when both Vik and Aziz were excellent in help side defense.

The bottom line is this team needs to find a way to score more. They miss too many good looks, both at the rim and open jumpers. The defense has really found itself during conference play, but the offense has taken a major step back. Feels mental to some degree and that if the dam breaks maybe this team can really take off.

They are not fouling all the time and have stopped turning the ball over so often. They play hard. Opposing teams have to bust their tails for 40 minutes. I can't complain.

Some of the key guys on this roster have holes in their games that makes it tough to be perfect.

This roster next year is a scoring alpha and a defensive replacement for Newman away from being a top 15 team.

This still feels like a 7 to 9 win team in league play.

They started running Simas around a screen for an open 3, which I don't think they'd been doing. So it appears they are altering things a little to get some shots.

It was frustrating yesterday watching Vik have a 4, 5, 6 inch height advantage down low but not get the ball.

I can't believe how good the defense was for long stretches of the game yesterday.

4-12 from three is like 50% from two. I'll take it. We really needed someone driving to the rim and either scoring or dishing.

Problem is when we drive and dish, we still missed the open 3. We are a one dimensional offense, everything we do well - big men, drive to the hoop, offensive rebounding - is in the paint. Teams are getting the scout - Oklahoma definitely did - pack the paint and force us to shoot over them.

Nobody is scared of 4-12 from our best 3 point shooter, especially when a lot of his misses were open shots. John and Josh are our next best shooters, but they only take wide open, spot up 3's. We don't have anyone who the other team has to focus on running off the 3-point line, unless Simas gets hot.

There's no way to improve shooting in a couple days or weeks - unless Fredrick gets healthy. We could play Jizzle more (Day Day's 3-point percentage is terrible), but Day Day does pretty much everything else better. Apparently CJ Anthony can really shoot it...

I stopped worrying about next year rosters when the portal and NIL collectives started making it rain.

But yeah I'd say this is about a 8 win B12 squad which will put them in the discussion come March.

Everyone has great opinions and I also hope next year the portals adds 2-3 Fredericks along with 2-3 bangers. This year they need to work on free throws.

OU 16-18 UC 14-22

UC 7-12 BAY 13-18

TEX 9-10 UC 8-15

You've got to be his agent. No one can see that much in this guy's game.

That’s a pretty good idea. Mark have you considered being an agent?

And FWIW, Vic is The best player on the team.
Dan will have his ups and downs but he’s super talented. Take what you can from him now and give him time.

Is running an offense that continues to shoot 3's when you are 7 of 25 and not running low post offense/touches on the players or coach?

I agree
The players need to know their roles and in this case the in-game adjustment would be to let them know to get the ball down low or sit the bench. We can’t shoot. No need to shoot soo many in ANY game. I think Chad said TCU had a very good three point percentage but they don’t shoot a lot of them. Just because it’s modern basketball doesn’t mean we have to chuck it up there all the time when we don’t have good shooters.

I don't always agree with Mark, but this time I believe Vic should get the ball more often. Every third possession there should be a concerted effort to get him the ball down low, where he is UC's best chance at scoring.....what kind of offensive scheme gets Aziz the ball past the three point line, atrocious......this team sorely lacks shooters, that's recruiting.....credit for running simas of screens.....the defense of some of these players would have Huggs spending all night at the Mt. Lookout bar....6 conf. wins, seven tops, such a shame to miss another March.....04-cheers
