RE: Arkansas State
Looking at the stats from this game, we took 22 midrange shots and 23 threes. That is so freaking gross in modern basketball. Arkansas State, by contrast, took 3 midrange shots and 39 threes.

That's because that's the shot they gave us. They guard Jenkins & Allete on on the 3 point line. When they get beat, somebody steps in to take away the drive to the basket. Everybody else is standing around and not cutting so there is nobody to pass to. So they take a mid range shot. To their credit, they did hit a lot of them. They also did a good job of taking away the 3 from Baker.

There are offensive systems and sets that can generate more efficient shots. We don't run them.
Your point about everyone else standing around is an interesting one: Chicken or egg? Do they stand around because they've learned they aren't getting the ball anyway, or are Allette/Jenkins forcing bad shots because the guys are standing around?

It really doesn't matter which it is. Both are the end result of the same thing - poor coaching/leadership.
