Marshall’s 1st year head coach Kim Caldwell won a DII Natty before joining the Herd. Pressure defense, a good bit of it full court and multiple sub outs throughout the game are trademarks. Will be interesting to see how they fare vs the Eagles today…..

RE: Women's BB 2023-24
All East at West today. Next 2 play days, West at East. Playday before SBC/MAC Challenge West at East.

Remaining play days all divisional except for one Eastern Division team who will spend one Wednesday/Thursday and Saturday playday playing at consecutive West Schools.

Exact inverse of the Men. With the SBC/MAC Challenge meetings at the MAC schools as well.

Well, we have one of the top 10 scorers in the country on the Women's side. Normally it doesn't matter much because we're prone to no one doing much scoring around her, however for some reason, Coastal legitimately tried to double team her 35 feet away from the basket, turning the half court into a game of 3 on 4 basketball, and it didn't go to well.

They eventually got out of it, but not before we were up 17.

chiefsfan: Should be a great challenge Saturday when ASU visits Huntington. Marshall’s 1st year coach preaches pressure defense & a lot of sub outs. Herd gals scored 13 triples vs USM last Saturday….
Go Herd!

stAte women seem to be a few players away from finding something. But when Izzy is gone, who knows.

Yep, we seem better than last season, but we've got only one more season after this with one of the best players in the country, so we've got one more chance recruiting wise to grab someone else to share the scoring load.

In normal terms, losing @ JMU by a few points when we led for parts of the 2nd half isn't bad, but it shows we're still not ready for the top of the league yet too.

If you can hold onto her... Kiki Jefferson from JMU last year has been balling out at Louisville and makes you wonder how good we could have been this year if she had stayed.

But the WNBA doesn't draft often outside of the P6, so I understand why players transfer out.

They haven't had much of a reason to. Very little talent of that level has been at a G5 school in recent years. Hoping that will start to change back to how it was in the 70's and 80's when most of the women's basketball talent was at the lower level schools like latech and ODU. People tend to forget that it wasn't Tennessee that put women's basketball on the map. It was Nancy Lieberman at ODU and Pam Kelly at latech that did that.

Marshall welcomes stAte to the Henderson Center today @ 1:00 EST.
The Herd leads Div I in steals per game. Looking forward to this one!

I received an email promoting today's game. Highlights from email include the following from the last game.

Coach Caldwell is at 199 career wins.
The Herd shot 75% from 3 during the second half.
The Herd had 41 points off turnovers.
The Herd has forced 20+ turnovers in 9 of 13 games this season.
The 26-point win was the largest win against a SBC school since entering the Sun Belt.

And consider:
All of this with our pre-season 1st teamer, Roshala Scott riding the pine because she won’t play within the system!
