Everybody else is rotates 1/2 years.

Wake annuals: ND, Duke, UNC, NCSU, rotate 3
ND annuals: Wake, Pitt, UM, Stan, rotate 3

This would be a great way for ND to help out the ACC by playing what is essentially 1 more ACC game and for Wake to step out of the ACC so that the ACC ratings are not as diluted. Yes, it might mean Wake will not be able to meet the 10 P4 requirement, but they can still have a great schedule and they’ll still have playoff access. As a bonus, their pay remains the same.

Odd.

You’d never know from reading posts by this commenter that, back on Earth, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are now 6–1 and just clinched bowl eligibility. They stand second in the ACC out of 17 teams, making them a contender with Miami for the conference title.

The Deacs have nothing to prove. My personal suspicion is that the commenter covets the conference real estate Wake occupies for UConn, a personal rooting interest.

Deacs rout Cal 41–7

RE: Thinking it into existence
3 divisions of 6 (TCU full, UConn and ND Indy)

NATIONAL - FSU, UM, SU, BC, Stan, Cal (8 ACC games)

ATLANTIC - Clem, GT, NCSU, Wake, UL, SMU (9 ACC games)

COASTAL - UNC, Duke, UVA, VT, Pitt, TCU (9 ACC games)

Annual Cross division: UNC-NCSU, Duke-Wake, Clem-VT, GT-UVA, UL-Pitt, SMU-TCU

ND annuals: UConn, FSU/UM, SU/BC, Stan/Cal, rotate 3 others

UConn annuals: ND, FSU/UM, SU/BC, Stan/Cal, rotate 3 others

Everybody rotates 3 games

A clean set up that addresses unpopular games and travel issues for the core of the ACC. Pitt is probably the biggest loser without their annual rivalry games with Miami and SU. Clemson loses the annual FSU and ND game, but gains VT and traditional ACC rivalry games.

The NATIONAL division is very spread out, but has some decent to very good games in this grouping. FSU, UM, SU, BC generally like playing each other. Stan and Cal should see increased ratings and fan interest with FSU and UM as annuals. To maximize ratings, Stan/Cal vs FSU/UM should have a kickoff time between 3-8pm EST. Stan/Cal vs SU/BC should always go for Friday nights at 7 or 10:30.

My overall assessment is that it does a lot of good things by raising the floor of the ACC ratings and overall fan interest. It does not create more of the top end football games that have a chance to be on ABC/ESPN prime time. TCU is a solid addition that will add to the overall value, UConn/ND is also utilized in a fair and balanced way. Is it better than the current thing? Yes, but a few tweeks could make it slightly better.

3 divisions of 6 (TCU full, UConn and ND Indy ver2)

NATIONAL - FSU, UM, SMU, TCU, Stan, Cal (8 games)

ATLANTIC - Clem, GT, NCSU, Wake, UL, BC (9 games)

COASTAL - UNC, Duke, UVA, VT, Pitt, SU (9 games)

Annual Cross division: UNC-NCSU, Duke-Wake, Clem-VT, GT-UVA, UL-Pitt, SU-BC

ND annuals: UConn, FSU/UM, TCU/SMU, Stan/Cal, rotate 3 (no SU, BC)

UConn annuals: ND, SU, BC, FSU/UM, TCU/SMU, Stan/Cal, rotate 1

I believe this set up will be enticing enough for TCU to leave their cozy position in the B12 and it gives the ACCN the best chance to get full rates in California and Texas. In addition to, FSU/UM will rotate between SU/BC in exchange for SU/BC to play UConn annually and skip out on the ND rotation.

The geography is more compact for all 3 divisions than in version 1 and we address the missing SU-Pitt rivalry game. UConn/ND will do a lot of the heavy travel lifting. Unfortunate still, but Pitt-UM and Clem-FSU will not be annuals, but the bigger picture more than justifies the means.

My overall assessment, the scheduling is not as clean, but it is slightly better than version 1, maybe just enough to get a massive financial windfall from the ACCN. The NATIONAL division schedule, particularly FSU and UM's, feels like a conference that is something entirely different than the ACC, the change might be good for all involved.

3 divisions of 6 (Utah full, UConn and ND Indy)

NATIONAL - Pitt, SU, BC, Stan, Cal, Utah (8 games)

ATLANTIC - FSU, UM, Clem, GT, UL, SMU (9 games)

COASTAL - UNC, NCSU, Wake, Duke, UVA, VT (9 games)

Annual cross division: FSU-UNC, UM-VT, Clem-NCSU, GT-Duke, UL-UVA, SMU-Wake

ND annuals: UConn, SU/BC, Pitt/Utah, Stan/Cal, rotate 3

UConn annuals: ND, SU/BC, Pitt/Utah, Stan/Cal, rotate 3

Everybody rotates 3 games.

A very clean look with all the major rivalries playing together and a bunch of guaranteed high rated games. The NATIONAL division can play a regional OOC rival to hit their quota of 10 P games. If SU and BC have trouble finding desirable opponents, I'd suggestion a 1 off OOC rotation of SU/BC play at FSU/UM until they come around in the regular ACC rotation.

EASTERN - UM, Pitt, SU, BC, WVU, SMU/Stan/Cal

ATLANTIC - FSU, Clem, GT, UL, VT, SMU/Stan/Cal

COASTAL - UNC, NCSU, Duke, Wake, UVA, SMU/Stan/Cal

ND annuals: Miami/Pitt, Stan/Cal, UNC/NCSU, Wake/Duke, VT/UVA, SU/BC

Annual cross division: FSU-UM, Pitt-UL, SU-Duke, BC-Wake, Clem-NCSU, GT-UNC, VT-UVA, WVU-SMU.

SMU/Stan/Cal will play one another, rotate divisions every year (7 games) + ND/UConn. The ACC drops the 10 P requirement for them.

3 divisions of 6 - 2 cross div. rivals (USF, UConn)

EASTERN - UM, Pitt, UL, SU, BC, Stan

ATLANTIC - FSU, NCSU, VT, Wake, Clem, SMU

COASTAL - USF, UNC, UVA, Duke, GT, Cal

Annual cross division: UM-FSU-USF, Pitt-NCSU-UNC, UL-VT-UVA, SU-Wake-Duke, BC-Clem-GT, Stan-SMU-Cal

ND/UConn annuals: Stan/UM, NCSU/UNC, UVA/VT, SU/BC, Wake/Duke, rotate 1

Annual OOC games: FSU-UF, Clem-USC, GT-UGA, UL-UK, USF-UCF, Pitt-WVU, SMU-TCU, Cal-UCLA

Everybody rotates 1 game each division.

This is a very clean schedule with everybody getting the same amount of annual games, same amount of Florida teams and the same amount of western teams in a 5 year rotation. The genius of this model is that the divisional set up looks natural and all the big and small rivalries are covered. The 3 way cross divisional system insures everybody get's a team they like to play with a team that they care little about, but combined with the overall picture makes it tolerable. The same goes for the ND/UConn rotation, you take the good with the bad.

SHOW ME THE MONEY: There will be a total of 18 different conference games each year, the scarcity of these games could create some heightened interest likened to an OOC game, maybe ESPN would see some extra value in that. I'd like to see the ACC get creative with the ACCT making use of 2 sites. ESPN could/should push for ACCN rate hikes in certain states, but certainly full rates in California. The ACC should find some more unique time slots to showcase their product in a window with little to no competition. The ACC should have a no FCS game policy which will create better games and increase SoS with still little chance of losing such games. What other conference has preserved so many rivalries, play in unique windows, no FCS games, features the best basketball brands? ESPN should pay for that.

The ACC should work out a deal with ESPN2 that they kickoff at 11am et every Saturday featuring an ACC or UConn team vs a G6 opponent. They can cut to highlights during the Gameday segment and cut to the Gameday final picks during the football game. If each eastern time zone ACC team did this, they'd all have to do this once. With ESPN2 starting early, then the late game would kickoff at 9pm et. The ACC should be given preference in this time slot with Stan, Cal and SMU hosting, with some of the bigger games involving Stan/Cal vs FSU/UM/Clem/UNC at 10:00 on ESPN1.
