Understand... why do we do it? We get pumped up and don't expect loses, but they are still kids playing games and the world is unpredictable.

I am inclined to agree with that assessment. the poster who said 18-9 I think severely overestimates this years teams.

GCU and SFA are fairly good but after that it is a bunch of question marks. Seattle, maybe, but I have seen Utah Valley and they are taken a HUGE step down from where they were last year. SUU also has a new coach and a completely new team so I am not expecting a lot from them either. Not sure what to think of ACU right now, maybe Ok St put a hex on them or something who knows, but scratching my head as to how they beat Ok St in Stillwater and lose to a SWAC team at Moody. Tarleton is about the same as last year a little better or worse not sure. We have a few more talented players than we did last year but lost our most talented guy in F. Hicks which offsets the net gain. Cal Baptist has not played anyone of note to get a gauge of where they are at in the race. UTa thinks they are world beaters for taking down a horrid Oral Roberts squad that lost everyone including their coach from last years team. ORU did beat the all powerful Mid American Christian Evangels by 5 points so I guess they might be world beaters! So UTa Stinks as well. UTRGV is probably at/near the bottom with UTa. RPI wise most of the teams in the WAC are looking at 200-300 range. GCU, SFA, and Seattle being in the 100-200 range. Overall a big step down from last year. If I had to rank them in order I would go

1. GCU
2. SFA
3. Seattle
4. Cal Baptist
5. ACU
6. Tarleton
7. SUU
8. UVU
9. UTU
10. UTRGV
11. UTA

For me right now, Tarleton is closer to the bottom than UTA.

You have to look at the level of competition. Virginia and Bradley are both borderline top 25 teams. We dominated the weaker teams. UTA faces UNM and Arizona next two games. Lets see how they fair and those 2 and then get back to me.

Dude Bradley played outside of their minds last night. Weird thing is, alot of teams go 3-ball crazy when they play us. Mediocre shooting percentage coming into the game, then proceed to shoot the everloving lights out. I do really wish we were more exciting to watch. Remember the good ol' days of Tarleton running the floor and allyoop dunking all over creation? Remember when WE were the ones carpet bombing all the 3's on everybody!? All we do now is D it up and lay it up.

Prairie View shot the ball better than any team I have ever seen. They made 75 percent of their threes in the second half and 33 out of 34 free throws. It was surreal.

Bradley isn’t that good. We didn’t defend the drive at all and they drove into the paint then passed out to wide open shooters. Good shooters will make three’s when there is no one near them.

We have no PG so there is no flow to anything we do offensively. Our best scorer was Gaddy but apparently he has been told not to shoot 3’s, he shot one, missed and then spent the rest of the Bradley game on the bench. And it doesn’t sound like any of the injured players are PG’s so no help there.

Yeah, our guys use to have fun playing Lonn ball, and therefore, were fun to watch. Now we make a great defensive play, then pass it like 10 friggin' times looking for that elusive layup. I wish these guys would just take it to the damn hole already! We're playing scared. Where's Mike Hardge when you need him?

Bradley IS GOOD! I bet you $100 that they do not lose more than 5 games in the regular season. I doubt they lose 3.

We can’t shoot from the outside, and we’re so small that we have to alter way too many shots inside the paint that look so awkward. Almost a total roster turnover every year. Does Gillespie start to feel some heat with the new AD coming onboard? He’s got skins on the wall, but not much to show so far at Tarleton. Is there a secret plan for next year and beyond?

He better. Middle of the pack in the WAC is not the Tarleton way. Expectations are much higher in the Ville, and it doesn't matter who you are, what your name is or where you came from. The new AD will surely get a thorough debriefing as to exactly what kind of program he is taking over. We are a BASKETBALL school that happens to be pretty damn good at Football. Not the other way around. After the season and finish we just had, Coach Whitten, in my mind, has earned the right to at least see out the remainder of his contract. BCG? I need more convincing. Hopefully the new AD will see it that way, too.

And almost as good as beating Oral Roberts.

The Cats really didn't have a great start, but played a much better 2nd half to beat SJSU 77-71 in their 1st game of the Paradise Jam.

If we can stay within 20 points of Arizona I will feel pretty good about it. Having said that, I do think we will do better in conference play this year. GCU looks like a beast though.

I don’t know how many games they will win, but we made them look a lot better than they really are. When we don’t play defense and can’t run our offense, we will make lots of teams look better than they are.

We got some views of our injured “bigs” recently. 6’7” Domingos has appeared in our last two games. 6’6” Jackson and 6’8” Brinkmeyer played against Bradley. Still nothing from 6’9” fr Paul.

Coach Gillispie will not be with the team Monday and Wednesday due to medical issues. Joseph Jones will be acting HC at So Cal Games.

Best of luck to Coach and the team! We really need a win against Austin P. ESPN predictor only gives us a 40% chance at a win, thought it would be the other way around... guess we will see. The Lobo's ( UNM) must really stink this year, Zona did what I thought they would do to UTA.
