I don't think anybody has suggested that Israel should compromise or negotiate with Hamas. In fact just about every state actor, with the exception of Iran and Putin's Russia, has condemned Hamas. I did hear somewhere that Hamas is now requesting a ceasefire.

The attack is still fresh. Within 2 weeks (or half that) many will begin to blame Israel and painting them as the bad guys here.

Correct. Hamas does x…. Israel will respond but will respond with x y and z….

When they get to Z people will start to turn on them as z was one step too far.
