RE: 2024 Football Recruiting
Really hope we blow out the RB position like WR. 2 former P5s and Curry return scholarship wise. No commits, was hoping for the former WKU pledge. Since we recruit HS pretty well, maybe we could see two HS SRs.

Hopefully they don’t convince themselves we already have the depth at red flag positions.

I don’t want to see Beebe promoted for the hell of it. We did it with Rudolph, Goode, Barker, Rowell and Lepkowski. And now you’re possibly looking at Sorrells and Beebe. That’s not how you compete in the AAC.

What's the red flag spots?

What's the red flag spots?

LB, we’ve been starting walkons there for years. Wilder, Goode, now Sorrells has to be forced into the rotation.

Safety, you lose Key there. Thornton battling injuries here and there and now we are running Rowell out there over the Millers, Bracy, Lee? LOL

Oline, honestly I do not care how far y’all think the current guys progress. Good, they’ll make for good depth next year when we find starters that don’t get embarrassed by Sunbelt teams. I was for burning the redshirts of Townsend and Hall just so we could have Physical big bodies on the field again

RB, NOW that Jacobs is out. You are possibly not only looking for a starting running back, but probably a legit backup running back too. We don’t have that behind Skull on the current team.

DL interior, I like Milfort, Knight, Merriweather, Waller. True freshmen need time to adapt and adjust. But, we need an immediate impact player from Juco or portal to come in and be disruptive between the guard spots. We’ve gotten burned up the gut all season.

Edge Rusher, we’ve been in need of that for years.

Agree

LB: I think is the worst spot. It's the most confusing too. Moore and Jones should be there full time. No Commits

DB: 2nd worst, it was a staple under HCBC. Would really let the CBs run nickel. One commit I hope we can keep

OL: I think is fine, would only bring in Walker. The other commit could go since he's not 100 percent on UAB. Stay at 17.

RB: could use 3 really good runners. Think we get a starter out the portal. Hope we run Spoon and Battle. No Commits could do the old HCBC and get a Alabama freshman and a Florida freshman, with a P5 guy

DL: We got too guys there already, let the current youth grow

DE: need guys who can get to the QB, a lot of guys there already

The last guy that wanted time for the youth to grow up bailed after year 2. No experiments or projects. Get guys in that can help us win. Those that are inferior in their matchups in more games than not should be asked to leave if they can’t hack it or there is simply no depth.

If you’re gonna get paid in the 6-7 figures, you right the ship fast. Bill Clark did charity work allowing so many “Filler” pieces to hang around for as long as he did.

Andy Kennedy cleaned house. I’d like to see Dilfer do it, too

I do wonder if HCTD has that trait, AK got rid of his own guys year one. Think we're over 85 with the Commits, so a few are probably on their way out. Hate to see certain ones go possibly.

Something has to give. We can't keep on allowing 40+ points a game and being #124 out of #124 in 3rd down defense. We can't get the offense to truly flourish either as long as the OL play is bad.

RE: 2024 Football Recruiting
HCTD made the comment that there could be 50 new faces next season FWIW. I take it between guys being told to hit the portal because they are not a part of our future and guys hitting the portal for a payday in addition to those running out of eligibility.

I am just curious in to the ratio of HS / JUCO / and portal players he will bring in. I agree, I would go for a little more immediate help.

Agree with the red flag positions for the most part.

That's a lot of moving parts/changes for one off season. Doesn't that make us vulnerable to some of the same issues we're facing this season?

RE: 2024 Football Recruiting
Agree Frenchy. Dilfer was completely new to the college world, and probably had minimal relationships with both coaches and players. He did what he could in the time he was here.

I don’t believe for a second that Dilfer isn’t aware of where this team is lacking and he isn’t doing everything he can to address those issue. I expect to see a lot of guys run off, a few guys leave to go elsewhere, and then a solid blend of older and younger recruits going forward. The young guys who have played this year will at least benefit from playing time. I still have a lot of hope things can turn around quickly in an off-season, Dilfer just needs to make the right decisions.

Not that I’d disapprove, there’s been some fat that needed to be trimmed for the longest time.

Yep, there were 10-12 obvious ones WE would have cut!!! - Better late than never - lol

Idk. I’m going off of what he said. I’m guessing the guys that are not AAC level or will ever be will be asked to leave and we have quite a few of them. Also our better players may get poached and until we collectively get serious about nil retaining players will be difficult.

RE: 2024 Football Recruiting
Everyone playing us is scouting our roster to see who they want and we can’t stop them because we would rather complain than do something about it. I think most here are bought in.

We need a kickoff specialist. I’d put that high on the list. ;-)
