Liberty has one mascot - Eagle (Sparky) and one nickname - Flames (Knowledge Aflame). Similar to Alabama - Crimson Tide (nickname) and Elephant (mascot).

The eagle is the symbol of liberty and Liberty.

To clarify... AKC didn't say he designed the helmets. He said he was ON the helmets.

The old school Gamecock on the helmets last night is affectionately known as the Ass Kickin' Chicken (or ****, for those concerned with technicalities, though that does blow the rhyme scheme).

The AKC is also known as the Fightin' Gamecock, but you have to find some pretty old folks who remember that name.

Regardless, it was good seeing it used in an official capacity again. It was mothballed back in the 80s by a university president who thought it conveyed the wrong image.

Hope all Liberty fans who made the trip had safe travels home and enjoyed your stay. The game didn't go our way, but most of us expected to lose this one, anyway. The fact we were able to make it a game for 3 quarters is a moral victory at least.

Hilltoppers are up this week. It sure doesn't get any easier...

Sounded like the announcers were in a basement calling game, guarentee they were not at that game.
