RE: Matt vs McCarthy
Something that needs to be said is that Matt Gaetz can be absolutely right that McCarthy is not a good speaker. The problem is this will be 100% pinned on republicans making chances of elections going their way less likely. And that's if they manage to thread the needle and elect another republican leader that might be slightly better than McCarthy. Which I don't think will happen. So at best it's bad for republicans. At worse it's catastrophic.

The GOP wont win key races because the establishment has sabotaged the populist wing of the party for years. The RNC controls the funding for elections and would rather lose if MAGA types end up being the nominee. You can blame MAGA all you want (I don’t disagree that some candidate last cycle that were Trump backed were terrible), but more blame needs to shift to McConnell/Ryan for undercutting momentum on that side of the party

If a RINO has to win in order for the GOP to have a healthy “majority” then it’s not really a majority to begin with. That is exactly how we got Trump in 2016, failed RINOs who talked a big game but when the chips were down - fold.

Agreed.

From their perspective, the marxist globalists are winning bigly. The NWO agenda is lurching forward at a stunning pace. The political opposition to it is in chaos and under attack from all directions.

I've read the book through, I know how the story ends.

Things aren't actually falling apart, they are falling into place.

Funding was given to Trump supporting candidates. It was not given to all MAGA candidates just like it wasn't given to some non Trump supporting candidates.

It's also funny that McCarthy did one of the exact same things that Trump did. Trump went behind republicans back and negotiated with the dems to increase spending rather than decrease it.

Good news, republicans on the problem solvers conference, who basically voted with democrats in the conference on stuff like ukraine funding, may leave the conference en masse after dems voted out McCarthy.

Another win for ousting McCarthy, as republicans who were getting played publicly found out they were getting played.

Many Senate candidates didn’t come close to the necessary funding in the midterms. Masters was outspent by 5x the amount Kelly was given.

Either the GOP needs new leadership to raise more funds or they need to bring in someone who knows how to win key races. This isn’t hard. Months before the election he was shitting on every MAGA candidate instead of trying to promote them.

Not true. That was a whole issue throughout the midterm election

Ehh. The Democrats are voting against any Republican. This vote simply reflects the fact that McCarthy cannot get a majority of the House from the Republican Party. He barely had them in January when he was elected and his failure to follow through with the agreement he made with the GOP members caused him to lose the Speakership. I think its a good thing. The next Speaker wont think he can get away with ignoring promises to his own Party members.

The next speaker could end up a dem. It would only take a few people switching sides for that to happen. Try to go for someone more conservative and the some of the moderates wont go for that. McCarthy barely got it after 15 rounds of voting.

There is a reason all the dems joined to remove him. I can promise you it is not because they believe this will lead to a more conservative speaker. They aint stupid.

Any Republican voting for Jeffries is done politically. Nothing Ive seen among the current inhabitants of DC indicate anyone there is looking to give up power prematurely---especially to elect a Speaker they likely disagree with more than any more conservative Republican. We will be fine. The Republicans will elect a Speaker from their own and will move on. Its more important to get the right leadership than it is to align under bad leadership thats comfortable with more of the same crap we had under Democrats. Whoever is elected will understand they cannot make any promises they dont intend to follow through with.

Don't be so sure. Bret Baier reported tonight that the Dems are working on a number of moderate Repubs to get them to flip, and right now they seem to have a shot. They only need a handful. You never know who might decide to retire and flip on the way out.

IF that happens, all the Repubs who caused this, including Gaetz, need to resign.

Oh, and go read the editorial Gingrich wrote on Gaetz today.

Almost all republicans were heavily outspent. It's the issue with companies now having gone woke an donating most to democrats. Most of the rich are democrats. They are going to outspend republicans unless that changes.

Looking up a list of spending it's hard to find any republicans in swing areas that outspent their dem rivals.

The one's that will flip are in purple/blue districts for the most part. Kick them out and all you do is get a dem to replace them.

They already are Dems if they flip and vote for Jeffries as speaker.

At least the caucus knows who those people are. Gaetz will get blame from RINOs and establishment shills, even though RINOs directly helped elect Jeffries in actuality…

Never Trumpers.

They now care if a Democrat is the Speaker of the House but they don't give a shite if they elect Biden or any other democrat as President.

Then let them flip. I’d rather know who to primary out in 2024. That matters more for the future if your goal is to get anything done.

They would likely flip and retire. And be replaced by more of the same.

And if you read the post that are the loudest in this thread it's mostly the.....

Never Trumpers.

They now care if a Democrat is the Speaker of the House but they don't give a shite if they elect Biden or any other democrat as President.

Whose a never Trumper here? Some dislike him. But, I don't think anyone has said they wouldn't vote for him. But, you seem to know who they are so I'd appreciate the names.
