If you want to tear something down you have to be able to present to the American people your alternative. I mean burn everything down will be popular with some people. It's just not going to fly for the general populace and will be a losing proposition for Republicans overall.
How do you know that. Andy Biggs.

Now 216-210 right now to oust the speaker with a request for any members wishing to change their vote.

Simply because in an interview he was asked who should be the next speaker of the house. And he didn't have an answer.
As for Andy Biggs he didn't get elected the first time and there are over a dozen republicans who have said they will not be voting for him under any circumstances. Which will possibly lead to compromise with dems to get a speaker. Just like what happened with the debt deal.
Sometimes you gotta take a little. Rather than try to burn the house down and end up giving pretty much everything to the dems. Which is what we got with the spending bill. Rather than getting a spending bill that cuts stuff and increases funding for the border we instead got a bill that gives dems everything they wanted pretty much because instead of republicans compromising with themselves they were forced to compromise with the dems. I fear the exact same thing will happen this time.

RE: Matt vs McCarthy
Final tally 216-210 against McCarthy with 433 members, minus Pelosi at Feinstein's funeral, and 6 present who did not vote.
Speaker of the House is now officially vacant.

Wow... looks like he's going to survive by one vote.
Edit:
Wait... what? They just declared it vacant?

Interesting that Pelosi failed to vote. The vote is closed and the Speakership is now declared vacant. Apparently several people didnt vote, so the 216-210 vote was the final vote.

McCarthy had eight months to get it right after going through 15 votes to make him Speaker. He blew it. Time to move on. Next man up. He blew it.

I mean all democrats voting with the 11 republicans which includes Gaetz, should concern everyone when all the dems are teaming up with them to make this happen.

Hey I'm all for getting rid of him. The problem is there is zero chance to actually get a hard line cutting spending person in there and we literally could end up with someone way worse even a dem speaker. You better know what your doing when you play with fire.

Fox reporter just said until further notice, the House Republicans are in a "kind of paralysis" b/c they can't legislate anything until they select a Speaker, and right now, nobody has a clear majority.
This could go on indefinitely.

Ehh. The Democrats are voting against any Republican. This vote simply reflects the fact that McCarthy cannot get a majority of the House from the Republican Party. He barely had them in January when he was elected and his failure to follow through with the agreement he made with the GOP members caused him to lose the Speakership. I think its a good thing. The next Speaker wont think he can get away with ignoring promises to his own Party members.

The next speaker could end up a dem. It would only take a few people switching sides for that to happen. Try to go for someone more conservative and the some of the moderates wont go for that. McCarthy barely got it after 15 rounds of voting.
There is a reason all the dems joined to remove him. I can promise you it is not because they believe this will lead to a more conservative speaker. They aint stupid.

Agreed. Why would the Democrats vote to keep him. That would be the scary part. McCarthy called their bluff and he went all in and lost. Time to move on. Matt Gaetz may no be a good guy, but what he is currently saying is absolutely on the money.

They have to pick someone. Its not like they are being asked to invent cold fusion. The real lesson here is to do what you promise to do to get elected Speaker.

The Repubs have the same problem they had in January. Nobody can get enough votes.
It only took 5 or so Repubs to take down McCarthy, b/c all Dems voted against McCarthy.

100%
The only thing that unifies GOPers is they aren't democrats. Too broad a coalition for a culture that does not fall in to leadership like, the opposition party does.

Any Republican voting for Jeffries is done politically. Nothing Ive seen among the current inhabitants of DC indicate anyone there is looking to give up power prematurely---especially to elect a Speaker they likely disagree with more than any more conservative Republican. We will be fine. The Republicans will elect a Speaker from their own and will move on. Its more important to get the right leadership than it is to align under bad leadership thats comfortable with more of the same crap we had under Democrats. Whoever is elected will understand they cannot make any promises they dont intend to follow through with.

yep. Its not that hard.
The next speaker will have to agree to the terms, or they will get booted too. This is the way it is SUPPOSED to work.
And the terms are not unreasonable. They are extremely reasonable, logical, and supported by most everyone.
