Lol. Circular firing squad level thinking.
Exactly my point. When their options are to lead like we want them to or just keep doing the status quote and getting bent by Nancy, they run to Nancy.
Jesus, give me strength.
Chalk up another L in 2024. With this thinking we deserve it.

So we either run to Nancy or we lose elections?
Why is it that running to Nancy is the ONLY option?

Why the hell is that the choice?
I'm starting to get more worried about the people on my side of the political spectrum's thinking than the dolts I expect it from on the other side of the aisle.

Some won't admit it, but this was a huge tactical and political blunder by Gaetz and his band of seven. Concessions to the DEMS are now on the table to TRY and get a speaker elected. Anyone think the DEMS really want to make that happen in an upcoming election year? The GOP can't get their crap together while the DEMS are ready to do the country's work is how it is being played.
And who exactly is offering concessions to the Democrats? Well---surprise surprise surprise-----its RINO MAGA hater Mike Rogers. Nothing like that brilliant RINO logic---lets continue shooting the finger to 50% of the primary voters while we demand their vote and loyalty. Absolutely dumbfounding.

McCarthy absolutely deserved his fate. With a majority Speaker like McCarthy----the opposition didnt have to lift a finger to get their way.
Its not that complicated. Get into a room---select a leader. If you cant get to 217----do what you need to do to get 217 republicans behind you. It may take some time----but its not rocket science.

Maybe the enemy is us. I guess we can can just follow the RINO's disastrous Liz Cheney course to its logical conclusion because too many cant read the writing on the wall. The good news for RINO's is it ends with the RINO's in full control of the GOP. The bad news is the GOP will be half its current size. Basically the RINO road to Victory is to follow Liz off a cliff. Brilliant.
I think cooler heads will prevail. In the end, I think we end up with another left leaning Republican as Speaker (because we must shoot ourselves in the foot where ever possible)---but the new leader will end up making some promises to the more conservative side of the party to get the votes he needs (and because they want to avoid McCarthy's fate, I think whoever assembles the votes will actually keep his promises). Yeah---its taking longer than it should---but this is a battle that needs to happen.

We wouldn't be seeing any of this if dumb*** Gaetz wouldn't have engaged in fvckery for his own personal gain...
Gaetz may be the biggest tard in DC and that is really saying something when compared to the short bus on the left and vapid, back stabbing twats like Nancy Mace.
This is the same hit the floor and throw a tantrum like a 3 year old stuff that is going to get us yet another 46% from the same guy. It's the same people. I swear there must be a faxed newsletter they all read.
Large chunks of this party need to go see the Wizard for a brain.
They are our own AOC and idiot squad...different sides of the same coin.
Gaetz and the rest of his squad didn't think this through. Then again, it's not uncommon for most politicians to not consider medium and long term effects when they are so focused on short term gain.
yea, let's not have any leadership that does what we want.
THis was thought thru very well at the beginning of the year, which is why the rule was put back in place.
The reason republicans cant win elections is that they RARELY follow thru with what they said they were going to do. Newt in '94 is the last time I can recall. THATS how we want things to operate, not as a sub-party of Nancy Pelosi.
You can't be serious. What kind of leadership do you expect to get if the GOP has a narrow majority in the House, no control over the senate and no control over the WH? To do what you wanted McCarthy to do, the GOP would have had at least control over the senate or control over the WH.
The true irony in all this is if McCarthy was a real leader, he'd be able to WORK WITH the Dems to get GOP issues pushed forward. That would mean they would have to TALK TO the Dems and cut deals with them. You may not care for that, but in a divided congress with small majorities plus the executive branch controlled by the other party you have to compromise.

Hey---Im the kind to admit it when I turn out to be wrong. lol---it happens enough that Ive gotten good at it. That said---I dont believe this will have even the slightest effect on the 2024 election. A quick look at the world today tells me there will be dozens of other much more pivotal predicaments and dramas that will have far greater impact on the presidential election as we near November 2024.

We're not talking passing anything all the way through. We were never to that point. What we would like is to DEBATE and VOTE on INDIVIDUAL SPENDING BILLS instead of going on vacation for 6 weeks and then coming back and saying there's no time to do that.
That isnt hard. The swampy swamp just doesnt want to do that.
In this last scenario, the public was overwhelmingly stating that if the government shut down, it was on Biden*. That gives you a position of strength. What did team numbnuts do? He just sends everyone on vascation and then whips up a CR.
brilliant. f*cking brilliant.
Nancy Pelosi is an eggplant brained idiot who's half drunk all the time with her teeth falling out, and McCarthy and the swampsters make her look like the greatest congressional leader of all time.

Compared to all the other news in the world, this is but a boil on the butt of a frog.
Insignificant.
But let's all wail at the sky and predict doom and gloom.
Good grief, get some perspective.

What kind of districts do Reps. Austin Scott and Carlos Gimenez represent?
First two knuckleheads to come out in the media to say they will vote against Jim Jordan regardless of the other options.

Austin Scott represents a pro-MAGA district in South/Middle Georgia.
Not sure about Carlos.
I like Jim Jordan and I support him being a part of the leadership — but he is a bad fit for Speaker. I don’t believe he has a serious chance get 217 votes on the floor of the House.

Well, right now he's the only remaining candidate.
And what exactly is a good fit for speaker? I hear a different answer from everyone.

As much as everyone screams we don't need to work with one side or the other, you need someone who can but won't give away the store, needs to be tough and negotiate for the betterment of the country.. Not another country or special interests..
I don't know if such a person exists.

I think Jordan would be a great Speaker. Can he get to 217? Who knows. He's only starting a few votes short of where Scalise started---so its not really crazy to think its possible. My guess is he would have to make some promises and compromises to get to 217. It appears Scalise may not have been willing to make the kind of deals necessary---perhaps Jordan is. Regardless of who wins---the deals made to get to 217 need to be fulfilled. We cant be screwing over our own membership. There has to be trust within the conference or you wont have the trust and cohesion needed to pass things with our narrow majority.
