Marine pilot seems to have ejected but had it on auto pilot and turned off the transponder or it stopped working? Happened yesterday, still have not found it. Gross incompetence.

The hacking thing is the most reasonable explanation. He ejected because he no longer had control of the plane.

I don't know if planes are able to self-destruct, but he lost control of the plane he might not be able to do that even if he was supposed to do it.
