Yes CT is a small state with short drives but its not the south where people drive hours and hours to games in their RVs to tailgate. Totally different culture which is why they dont belong in any southern based conference. I havent been to any UConn football games but Im assuming the student attendance and atmosphere is terrible.

Not really. Storrs is a rural town and the highway exit is a few miles from campus. The stadium location is right in the heart of the population center of central CT and directly off the highway. When they win games, fans show up. Thursday we had over 36,000 and the student section was awesome.

Doesnt matter. College football is all about on campus. All those rural SEC towns still gets tons of people to show up to their games. Why do you think Alabama and Arkansas dont play games at Birmingham and Little Rock anymore ? They dont need to.
I lived in the South for a little bit. The mindset is totally different esp about college football. Alabama and Arkansas don't have pro teams.

They are saving that spot for Rice sometime in the 2030's, when FSU, Clemson and some others leave and they are building a Magnolia league.

Perhaps they could work a Notre Dame style scheduling arrangement in basketball (both) with the ACC to entice such a move.

UConn wasn't good enough to compete in the AAC. Why would the ACC add them?

I could see them adding basketball only, but UConn football is worthless as a sports media property.

The ACC constitution requires all-sports members. Are they really going to get 13 members to agree to a change?

Well, someone should tell Notre Dame this.

That said, the ACC wouldn't take UConn in football-only. Why would they? The value UConn offers is primarily in its basketball programs (both men's and women's). UConn football isn't well established enough to move the needle for the ACC.

So Notre Dame is unconstitutional?

Notre Dame came in under a different track (section 2.12 of the ACC constitution is a carve-out) , but 75% of the league went in on it. My point was that it would be difficult now for 75% of the ACC to sign off on UConn as was seen with last week's issues on expansion.

If this is all about the carriage fees then there are better "let's do a football only" options in bigger states. UConn has two valuable basketball properties that operate in the black (I do not believe any other school can claim that), why you would pass up on them just to fill a "hole" in football is nothing short of baffling.
