In all honesty as much as I don't like the freak show on Sickth street I do love Salt Lick BBQ. There is a lot of good BBQ in Austin but also in a lot of places in the Hill Country. Blacks in Lockhart Beef Ribs outstanding are like Brontosaurus bones. The brisket over in Taylor at Louie Mueller is some of the best. Good stuff. Thanks Ollie now I have to make a road trip.

Seriously no private cars in Houston. Laughable at best. Houston only sprawls some 670 square miles. I am sure that Metro can handle it. Stupid people think of really stupid ideas. May want to stick to the Northeast where cities are much more compact.

I never got licked after my freshman year in HS. I got caught smoking in the smoke hole without a permission slip - yes, back then you could get one - and the assistant principal took me in his office and literally beat me bloody. I went home that afternoon and told my old man about it and he made me drop trou to show him the damage. The backs of my legs and butt were bruised and bloody.

The next morning my 6'3" 230 pound ex military police old man was standing over the assistant principals desk - towering over it right in his face - telling him that if he ever laid a hand on me again that he would end up in the hospital. That poor man would see me coming and duck into a classroom or anywhere that kept him from having to come anywhere near me after that. My old man made it clear that he wasn't against me getting punished for doing something wrong but he drew the line at drawing blood.

In the mid-late 70s, if the football coaches found out it was your birthday, you got it. Say it was your 14th, you would get 13 taps then he would unload. Now I am not one to look at a dude's bare backside, but if it is glowing purple, black, and blue, it is difficult not to notice.

Man, that is so 1800s. Ours were more modern with holes in them against wind resistance. I got my share of paddlings, the assistant principal already knew me by name.

Which brings me to this. When I was a teen my father would lay the belt on my butt. Luckily, it wasn't a fairly often occurrence. But, my mother, may she RIP, did. When I misbehaved and she had enough of my antics she would strike out with whatever she had in her hand. It could have been a ladle, a large spoon, and the worst of all the wire framed flyswatter. Man, that one hurt a lot. I would cry out, "it hurts, you're hitting me with the wire". She would respond, "it's supposed to hurt". No pity ,my mother. I loved her so.

So let's look at it like this... No meat, dairy, and private vehicles. Within a year of it happening these cities will crumble and who will they blame? Climate change?
