“Are You Protecting the Biden*s?” "Did The FBI the Participate in January 6?"
Quote:Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz lit up the FBI Director Christopher Wray in a fiery exchange during Congressional testimony on Wednesday morning.

“‘I’m sitting here with my father, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction, I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father,” Gaetz remarked, referring to a Hunter Biden WhatsApp message made to a Chinese businessman. “Sounds like a shakedown, doesn’t it? Director?”

“I’m not going to get into commenting on that,” Wray replied. Let it be noted that the FBI Director did not take the opportunity to set the record straight.

“You, you, you seem deeply uncurious about it, don’t you?” Gaetz remarked. “Almost suspiciously uncurious. Are you protecting the Bidens?”

“Absolutely not,” Wray shot back. “The FBI does…”

But Gaetz cut him off as Wray bridled at the accusation.

“You won’t answer the question about whether or not that’s a shakedown and everybody knows why you won’t answer it,” the Congressman replied. “Because to the millions of people who will see this, they know it is. And your inability to acknowledge that is deeply revealing about you.”

Last month, explosive whistleblower testimony revealed that Hunter Biden had sent a WhatsApp message allegedly with his father in the room coercing a Chinese state-affiliated national named Henry Zhao over what appears to be an illicit transaction.

Hunter had sent the threatening message to Harvest Fund Management director Henry Zhao, saying he was “sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled.”

“Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” the now-53-year-old said. “And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.”

As Rep. Claudi Tenney (R-NY) explained in a thread, it is highly plausible that Joe Biden may actually have been in the room with Hunter Biden when the alleged threat was made.

“Photos from Hunter Biden’s laptop place the President’s son at the Biden family’s Wilmington Delaware home on the same day the WhatsApp message was sent: July 30, 2017,” she said.

Furthermore, there are bank records backing up that Zhao actually sent over $5 million dollars to Hunter Biden ten days later, and then moved over $1 million to Joe Biden’s brother’s consulting firm. The bank then shut down his account due to suspected money laundering.

The New York Times’ Ken Vogel reported that “Within 10 days of Hunter Biden’s WhatsApp message to the Chinese official associated with CEFC, a CEFC subsidiary sent 2 payments totaling $5.1 million to accounts linked to Hunter, according to records cited in the Senate GOP Investigation.”

It now remains to be seen if Hunter Biden’s “sweetheart” plea deal holds up in court, thereby letting the president’s son escape prison time for three misdemeanor charges brought against him.

Chris Wray is Put on the Spot About the FBI’s Participation in January 6

Quote:FBI Director Christopher Wray was put on the spot about the bureau’s involvement in January 6.

California Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican, grilled Wray about the number of FBI agents and informants were involved in the Capitol riots.

“How many individuals were either FBI employees or people that the FBI had made contact with were in the January 6th entry of the capitol and surrounding area?” Issa asked.

“So I, I really need to be careful here talking about where we have or have not used confidential human sources,” Wray replied.

“Was there one or more, was there one or more individuals that would fit that description on January 6th that were in or around the capitol?” Issa pressed.

“I believe there is a filing in one of the January 6th cases that can provide a little more information about this, and I’m happy to see if we can follow back up with you,” Wray answered.

“Just want an answer,” Issa said. “Was there one or more? I mean, you would know if there was at least one individual who worked for the FBI who entered the capitol on that day?”

“I can’t, again, I just can’t speak to that here, but I’m happy to get the court filing that…” Wray repeated.

“It’s been two years and you’re now, you’re now come before us,” Issa said. “The gentleman asked these questions, makes all kinds of insinuations and you, you nod your head yes. And then I ask you simply was there one or more? And you won’t answer that.”

“So I’m going to make the assumption that there was more than one, more than five, more than 10, and that you’re ducking the question because you don’t want to answer for the fact that you had at least one,” Issa said. “And somehow missed understanding that some of the individuals were very dangerous and that there were others inciting individuals to enter the capitol after others broke windows.”

FBI Director Wray denied allegations that the FBI had a part in triggering the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. In response to questions about what the FBI knew before the attack, he called the idea that the FBI had planned or had a hand in the violence “ludicrous”, saying it undermined the commitment and hard work of their dedicated staff.

Wray further clarified that, to the best of his knowledge, the FBI had no prior knowledge of a specific plan to attack the Capitol. However, he did acknowledge that the agency was aware of a potential threat of violence and had shared intelligence information accordingly.

“This notion that somehow the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources and agents is ludicrous and is a disservice to our brave, hardworking, dedicated men and women,” Wray said.

In an interesting addition to Wray’s testimony, he disavowed under oath that he had any knowledge that Ray Epps is a “Fed.”

Epps infamously was caught on video inciting people to go into the Capitol building on January 6, but has not been charged for his activities and is consistently defended by Democrats and the legacy media.

According to the NYT, the FBI had up to eight informants within the Proud Boys group in the months surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. That includes a period of time both before and after the event. Former Tennessee Proud Boys chapter leader Matthew Walter told the Times in February that around 20 other group members besides himself had FBI relationships around that time.

I saw that on Bannon's War Room. We need about 15 - 20 more of Matt Gaetz in the House. He was on fire and made Wray (protoge of Comey) look silly, in that he never answers a question. He plays dumb. Plus he's an arrogant SOB.

Impeach Wray and impeach Garland. Get on it, House.

BREAKING: Director Wray DENIES FBI violated First Amendment by suppressing Hunter Biden laptop on social media

Quote:During a House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Wray was questioned about involvement of the FBI in suppressing free speech online. Wray "does not believe" the federal agency violated the First Amendment.

During the committee hearing, Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman probed the FBI director about the involvement of the FBI "by proxy" in shutting down free speech of American citizens online.

Hageman said that it was "established that the FBI and other federal agencies met weekly with executives from major social media companies including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Yahoo and Verizon" in recent years.

She continued by saying the Committee "has learned that the FBI acted to 'discredit leaked information about Hunter Biden before and after it was published.'"

Multiple requests from the FBI went to Twitter "to take action on election misinformation even involving joke tweets from low follower accounts," according to findings from the Judiciary Committee

Wray said that he did "not agree" with the Committee's findings.

Hageman pushed Wary more, saying that he knows the "federal government is forbidden from doing indirectly what it cannot do directly."

"Neither you nor the FBI have any legal authority to circumvent the First Amendment by using a surrogate to do your dirty work. Yet that is exactly what you have been doing," Hageman continued. "Were you the person who gave the orders to use these social media companies to violated American's First Amendment rights?"

Again, Wray disagreed and said Hageman mischaracterized the FBI's "engagement with social media companies."

"I don't believe that's what we did... I [can't] help what people believe or not, I can only speak to what the facts are," Wray concluded.

Hageman then asked if anyone at the FBI has been reprimanded or held accountable for the actions taken on the social media platforms.

Wray responded that the FBI put together guidelines for people in the organization. In terms of specifics, Wray said, "I am not going to speak to personnel matters because we have not made any such determination at this stage."

Quote:.
@RepChipRoy
asks Chris Wray why FBI Agent Brian Auten can suppress the Hunter Biden laptop investigation and participate in the Mar-a-Lago investigation despite being under "disciplinary review" for deceiving FISA courts with the Steele Dossier to spy on the Trump campaign?

"The FBI conducted an internal investigation of Brian Auten and then sought to suspend him but Auten appealed.

Nevertheless, in 2020, after Senators Grassley and Johnson highlighted evidence of potential financial crimes and corruption against the Biden family, the FBI assigned Auten to compile an assessment, which was used to characterize the Biden revelations as Russian disinformation.

The evidence Grassley and Johnson had collected was mostly financial records and could easily have been corroborated as authentic.

And by then, the FBI had the Hunter laptop in its possession for over a year, so it knew the lucrative payments to the Bidens from corrupt anti-American regimes were authentic.

How on earth did the FBI empower an agent under investigation for potentially corrupt performance and abuse of FISA in one politically fraught investigation, a Democrat operative-driven case against President Trump, to play a key role to undermine a second politically fraught investigation, a case against the Bidens?

How is that possible? How can you allow that to occur in the FBI?"

Wray Admits Bank Of America, Other Businesses Share Innocent Americans’ Records With FBI ‘All The Time’

Quote:FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted that the nation’s principal federal law enforcement agency regularly obtains innocent Americans’ personal data from companies with the intent of potentially charging them with crimes.

The confession, which came during a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing, confirms the testimony of an FBI whistleblower who told congressional investigators earlier this year that Bank of America sent the federal law enforcement agency a “huge list” of financial records for Americans who used the bank’s credit or debit cards in close proximity to Washington D.C. around the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot. It also confirms a majority of Americans’ suspicions that the FBI is being weaponized against the people it’s sworn to protect.

“George Hill, former FBI supervisory intelligence analyst in the Boston field office, told us that the Bank of America, with no legal process, gave to the FBI gun purchase records with no geographical boundaries for anybody that was a Bank of America customer. Is that true?” Republican Rep. Thomas Massie asked.

“A number of business community partners all the time, including financial institutions, share information with us about possible criminal activity, and my understanding is that that’s fully lawful,” Wray explained.

Hill told investigators that of the customers on its list, Bank of America highlighted at the top of the list those who had ever purchased a firearm with a Bank of America card.

During the hearing, however, Wray insisted that Americans’ personal firearm transaction records were “shared with field offices for information only” and even claimed that data was “recalled to avoid even the appearance of any kind of overreach.”

“My understanding is that that’s a fully lawful process,” Wray repeated.

Hill said previously that the FBI’s D.C. field office, which is at the center of several ongoing weaponization inquiries by Republicans due to conduct including a raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, distributed the data to the agency’s nationwide offices.

The FBI, the retired analyst explained, also encouraged agents to use the transaction records to jump-start and pursue criminal investigations. When agents at branches like the Boston field office refused, Hill said the D.C. field office threatened to go above their heads to their superiors.

Given this information, Massie expressed doubt about Wray’s claims.

“Was there a warrant involved?” he asked.

“Again, my understanding is that the institution in question shared information with us, as happens all the time,” Wray said.

“Did you request the information?” Massie countered.

“I can’t speak to the specifics,” Wray replied.

Massie then disclosed that he was in possession of an email stating that the FBI “did give the search queries to Bank of America” which prompted the bank to hand over the data “without a search warrant.”

“Do you believe there’s any limitation on your ability to obtain gun purchase data or purchase information for people who aren’t suspects from banks without a warrant?” Massie asked.

Wray declined to answer and instead suggested Massie talk to the FBI’s lawyers.

“What I will tell you is that my understanding is that the process by which we receive information from business community partners across a wide variety of industries, including financial institutions, sharing information with us about possible criminal activity is something that is fully lawful under current federal law,” Wray said.

“It may be lawful, but it’s not constitutional,” Massie retorted.

Okay, so the Reps put Wray on the spot. My question is: Is something going to be done about all his lies and evasion? Wray knows that the Reps bark a lot but have no teeth...same as us. It's all about a lot of nothing, that is, nothing will come of it.

I'm tired of this crap where these individuals get to redo the harm that they've done and no repercussions.

WATCH: Swalwell's Spin on Hunter Laptop and Tongue Bath of FBI Is Something to See

Quote:FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

As one might have predicted, he did his best to avoid answering any substantive questions, raising again the point that the FBI needs a very thorough house cleaning as soon as possible. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) went to town on Wray, bringing up Hunter Biden’s WhatsApp message shaking down Chinese businessman Henry Zhao and bringing up the hundreds of thousands of illegal FISA requests. He noted how many of the improper queries had to do with Jan. 6 and pointed out how that contradicted what Wray had previously testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

While Gaetz and some of the Republicans were on fire, Democrats were scrambling to try to spin anything that might hurt Joe Biden. Perhaps one of the worst takes along those lines was from Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA). Imagine this take on all the problematic issues of Hunter Biden’s laptop. According to Swalwell, Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) was “upset” that the FBI prevented more Americans from finding out about a “private citizen’s laptop.” “That is bananas to me!” Swalwell whined, doing his best to mischaracterize the facts.

Swalwell claimed the Republicans were bringing up FISA violations “every single question.” He said Republicans were trying to argue that: “The 2020 election was determined…because the FBI didn’t let more Americans see a private citizen’s nonconsensual nudes?! Is that what we’re saying here?!”

Of course, that isn’t what anyone is saying except Swalwell. What gall to try to justify the suppression of the laptop from the American people by casting it as a “private citizen’s nonconsensual nudes.” How convenient to skip out on all the facts: that it was abandoned, that it was turned over to the FBI, that it was sat on, that social media suppressed it. That kept the American people from knowing more about the laptop before the election — all about the foreign dealings and the alleged influence peddling, among the alleged problems on the laptop. He wants to skip right over the “10 percent for the Big Guy” and the payments from people connected to foreign governments like China. Polls have shown yes, a massive number of Americans believe it would have made a difference in the election. One poll in August of last year said 79 percent thought the information would have turned the election more in favor of Donald Trump.

He doesn’t realize how he tells on himself. And he should be concerned about the violation of Americans’ rights under FISA as well. But what he’s concerned about is that the laptop might hurt the Democrats’ chance to hold onto power. So he wants to paint the laptop as being about privacy and nudes. He’s not upset at all about all the hundreds of thousands of FISA violations, but he is upset that people might see the alleged crimes on the laptop.

Then, Swalwell is the same guy who raised a lot of concerns over his relationship with Fang Fang. That’s why he was booted off the Intelligence Committee by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Maybe he should be the last one commenting or trying to spin Hunter’s laptop that reveals the Biden connections to the Chinese. As I reported the other day, once the FBI gave Swalwell a defensive briefing when it came to Christine Fang, that ended the investigation into the matter. A former FBI official in the counterintelligence world is now talking about that as part of the politicization of the FBI. No wonder Swalwell is spinning on behalf of the FBI.

If that defense wasn’t enough, then Swalwell finished off with a tongue bath of the FBI, taking some of his time to talk about FBI “Family Day.”

Gee, that’s holding them to account for violating the rights of Americans.

“Can you tell us what Family Day is?” Swalwell inquired.

Wray responded:

Family Day is an opportunity for employees from, really, all over the FBI. Uh, Tends to be primarily from the nearby geography because of the trip they have to make. Employees bring their families into FBI headquarters so that they can see a little bit about the place their loved ones work and why mom or dad is spending so much time away from home.

“You see the little kids on family day?” Swalwell asked.

Wray confirmed:

Many, many, many. It’s an opportunity for us to say ‘thank you’ to the families. You know, we talk a lot in law enforcement about sacrifice. But the reality is that law enforcement officers or professionals are sacrificing to do what they love. Our families are sacrificing because of who they love.

Can it get any more saccharine than that? And I don’t know about you, but it sounds to me like Wray was ready and prepared with that response. Did Swalwell tell him he was going to ask it?

Notice how Wray will go to great lengths when prompted by Swalwell about “Family Day,” but he can’t be bothered to give substantive responses to all the concerning questions about the troublesome actions of his people.

Fire Wray and the entire 7th floor "leadership" and then polygraph all remaining personnel. I'm reasonably sure there are a lot of agents near the end of their careers that are disgusted by what's happened there but the co$t to them and their families of speaking out is too great. They've seen what happens under this tyrannical leadership.

That would be how I would re-build the FIB.

There has been a huge disconnect between the FBI field agents and the leadership for a number of years. My brother lived next door to an agent in Birmingham for years. He and others in his office hated Louis Freeh. Mueller was known as "Bobby Three Sticks" because he signed everything Robert Mueller III, and the field agents thought he was far too pompous and patrician, as if he was always rubbing it in, "I'm an Ivy Leaguer, I'm better than you." There was a strong rumor that Comey faced an in-house uprising from the field for whitewashing Hillary, and that his second and confusing statement before the 2016 election was made to try to head that off.

This is no doubt true. The problem is that the politically tainted leadership in D.C. and heading up the regional offices clearly have the upper hand.

Over the past four decades, I’ve dealt with FBI investigators a small handful of times - - mostly on background checks but twice on active criminal investigations. I’ve got nothing but respect for the agents who interviewed me - - smart and seemingly straight.

But I would have a lot of trouble today agreeing to voluntarily participate in an interview. I suspect many others would as well.

The American Gestapo is a fair label for what the Comey/Wray FBI has become.

Top 10 Takeaways From FBI Director Christopher Wray’s House Judiciary Testimony

Quote:FBI Director Christopher Wray sat for nearly four hours of questioning on Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee. Here are the top takeaways from the hearing.

1. Wray Indicates Foreign Intel Agencies Worked with Big Tech to Silence Speech
The FBI director faced fierce questioning from Republican committee members on the FBI’s efforts to induce Big Tech to censor American speech. Several representatives specifically challenged Wray to justify the FBI passing along requests from the Ukrainian intelligence agency, SBU, to social media companies. The FBI’s role as a conduit for SBU was just revealed on Monday in a report from the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

That report revealed that following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the SBU enlisted the FBI to forward to American social media companies lists of accounts that allegedly “spread Russian disinformation.” The FBI obliged, sending a flurry of requests for accounts to be removed, including many American accounts, to multiple social media platforms. In fact, the House report highlighted the inclusion of the official, verified, Russian-language account of the U.S. State Department. The House Judiciary Committee queried Wray on how this could happen, while also inquiring why the FBI would assist the SBU in this endeavor, especially in light of Russia’s known infiltration of SBU.

In explaining the FBI’s involvement, Wray stressed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 had cut off Ukraine’s communications, causing SBU to ask the FBI to contact U.S. companies on their behalf with the list of accounts supposedly spreading Russian disinformation. But as Republicans on the committee highlighted, the account lists in question included American accounts. Thus, the FBI’s involvement triggered the same First Amendment problems as those litigated in Missouri v. Biden.

This testimony also raised a second area of concern, namely the apparent coordination between U.S. social media companies and foreign governments. Wray said he served as an intermediary because Ukraine’s communications system was down. But in that case, it appears SBU would have contacted the American companies on its own behalf, seeking the silencing of Americans’ speech.

So the question for American social media companies is this: Do they accept requests to remove accounts or posts from foreign countries? And do they censor Americans’ speech based on foreign claims of disinformation?

2. Private Corporations Present a Bigger Concern Than Wray
Social media companies are not the only ones who have some explaining to do following Wray’s testimony. Americans should also demand answers from private businesses with access to consumer information, especially those in the financial sector.

This concern flows from Wray’s response to questioning about Bank of America handing the FBI financial records of customers who had purchased firearms within the six months before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Wray defended the FBI’s receipt of this information by noting that “a number of business community partners, all the time, including financial institutions, share information with us about possible criminal activity.” Such activity is entirely lawful, the FBI director maintained, although he added that the FBI opted not to use the Bank of America data to avoid concerns over the bureau obtaining that data.

That the FBI decided not to use the data, however, provides no comfort because Bank of America obviously had no qualms about sharing the information. Further, Wray framed Bank of America’s data sharing as consistent with “business partners” who “all the time” share information about possible criminal activity.

But financial data showing a customer had previously purchased a gun does not represent evidence of “possible criminal activity.” Yet that didn’t stop Bank of America from giving the information to the FBI. So what other financial information is Bank of America providing? And what about other “business partners”?

3. Wray Needs to Read the Court’s Opinion in Missouri v. Biden
The partnership that took main billing during Wednesday’s hearing was that forged between the FBI and social media companies, and Republicans drilled Wray on the coordinated efforts to censor American speech. Throughout the entire hearing, though, Wray unwaveringly maintained the bureau was not responsible for the censorship because the FBI was merely making suggestions that posts involving foreign malign influence be removed.

No one who read the district court’s opinion in Missouri v. Biden could reasonably reach that conclusion. And since the FBI played such a heavy role in the censorship enterprise summarized in that case, the FBI director owes it to the public to actually study that opinion.

DOJ lawyers may be telling Wray the FBI is in the clear, but a federal judge disagreed, and since the court has ordered the FBI to abandon its unconstitutional conduct, Wray needs to understand precisely what that means. Reading the court’s unfiltered opinion is the only way to see the many ways the FBI violated the First Amendment.

4. So Much Ignorance, So Little Time
Wray was not only ignorant of the facts underlying Missouri v. Biden, but he also revealed several other blind spots. For instance, during the hearing, Wray acknowledged he had previously testified that the FBI had not used Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which allows the federal government to collect communications of foreign individuals, in its investigation of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. That ended up not being accurate, however, but Wray was “blissfully ignorant” of that fact when he testified to the contrary to Congress.

Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell also put on a display of ignorance Wednesday, although in his case it was a feigned ignorance, with the California congressman framing the Hunter Biden laptop as concerning the nudes of a private citizen. While Swalwell may still be fixated on the nudes on the laptop, Republicans’ concern has always been of the evidence of a pay-to-play scandal implicating now-President Biden.

Then there’s Rep. Zoe Lofgren who claimed the GOP majority was engaging in “conspiracy theories” to discredit “one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the United States,” and “without any evidence” trying to “make the case that the FBI is somehow opposed to conservative views.” These 20 examples tell a different story.

5. Why Was Auten Anywhere Near Biden Evidence?
Wray and the Democrats weren’t the only ignorant ones, however. Republicans were clueless when it came to understanding why FBI analyst Brian Auten was anywhere near evidence implicating Hunter Biden.

After all, Auten had been under internal investigation since 2019 for his role in Crossfire Hurricane. Given the partisan witch hunt that investigation proved to be, why would the bureau allow Auten to play a part in the highly political investigation of Hunter Biden?

Yet it apparently did. A whistleblower has told Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, that Auten opened an assessment in August 2020 and that assessment provided other FBI agents the ability to falsely brand derogatory information about Hunter Biden as disinformation.

Wednesday’s testimony by the FBI director shed no light on the question of Auten’s involvement.

6. AG Garland’s the Real Hack Targeting Parents
While Wray was unable to explain Auten’s involvement in the Hunter Biden investigation, he made clear that when it came to the parents-are-terrorists memorandum, that was all Attorney General Merrick Garland’s doing. That testimony proved enlightening by showing that for all of the FBI’s deficiencies, even its director sees the attorney general as more of a hack for targeting parents at school board meetings.

7. Orange Man Bad, FBI Good
Also enlightening were the Democrats’ main lines of questioning. Here, there were two. The leftist lawmakers spent most of their time rehabilitating the FBI, reciting the many important bureau missions, showcasing hero agents, highlighting horrible attacks on FBI offices, and rejoicing in the FBI’s family days. Then the far-left faction merely attacked Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans.

Together these lines of questioning exposed the Democrats as unconcerned by the many abuses Americans have witnessed over the last half-dozen years. And what was unserious appeared downright absurd when Democrat Pramila Jayapal used her allotted time to challenge the FBI director over the bureau’s purchase of citizens’ data, including location data, from various data brokers. Pre-Trump, every Democrat would have been drilling Wray on such abuses of civil liberties, but this week it was only Jayapal.

8. The Speech or Debate Clause Does Some Heavy Lifting
In addition to the Democrats’ two main lines of questioning, a sub-theme of many of the comments concerned the whistleblowers, with Democrats attempting to discredit their testimony. One way they sought to do that was by presenting the whistleblowers as hired tongues. But beginning with Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and continuing through Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, they made this point by slandering the whistleblowers, falsely stating they had been paid for their testimony.

Of course, the speech or debate clause prevents the whistleblowers from suing the committee members who lied about them, which is precisely why they had no qualms about doing so.

9. Schiff Can’t Stop Lying
Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is proof of this point because he can’t stop lying. He lied about the Carter Page FISA warrants. And on Wednesday, he lied again about President Donald Trump’s telephone call with the Georgia secretary of state following the November 2020 election.

Unfortunately, “as I’ve been forced to detail time and again because the corrupt media continue to lie about the conversation, the transcript of the call established that Trump did not request that Raffensperger ‘find 11,780 votes.’” As I wrote in February, “It never happened.” Instead, during that “telephone conversation between Trump’s legal team and the secretary of state’s office, Trump’s lawyer explained to Raffensperger that ‘the court is not acting on our petition. They haven’t even assigned a judge.’” Thus the legal team wanted the secretary of state’s office to investigate the violations of Georgia election law because the court refused to do its duty.

Schiff knows this, but he also knows there are no consequences for lying. On the contrary, he might just convince Californians to send him to the Senate so he can follow in Harry “He Didn’t Win, Did He?” Reid’s footsteps.

10. A Mixed Bag on the Pro-Life Question
The final takeaway topic from Wray’s testimony concerned the pro-life question, and Wray presented a mixed bag. On the one hand, he outrageously refused to condemn the FBI agents who decided to use a SWAT-like display of force to arrest a pro-life sidewalk counselor at his family home when the man’s attorney had agreed to arrange for his client to voluntarily appear to face the charges — of which he was later acquitted.

On the other hand, when Rep. Deborah Ross, D-N.C., attempted to frame abortionists and abortion facilities as being increasingly targeted in the wake of Dobbs, Wray corrected the narrative, noting that the uptick in violence has been to pro-life centers, with 70 percent of the cases involving such organizations.

Even Dems Put Wray Under a Hot Lamp About Abuses, Expose a Big Contradiction in His Testimony

Quote:Republicans grilled FBI Director Christopher Wray during a House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, but as one might have anticipated from prior testimony, Wray gave his typical “answer but not answer” responses.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) pointed out how Wray and the FBI seemed incredibly uncurious about investigating the Bidens, yet, then had all kinds of illegal FISA queries to surveil other American citizens. Gaetz said the Inspector General reported more than a million of these illegal queries. He also grilled Wray over whether he’d perjured himself to Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) when he testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the FISA inquiries related to Jan. 6.

The Florida congressman explained how the court has smacked the FBI down finding the “FBI personnel apparently conducted queries for improper personal reasons.” Gaetz termed it their own “creepy personal snoop machine.”

Democrats like Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) came to the defense of the Bidens regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop, trying to cast this as looking into a “private citizen’s consensual nudes.” Rather than grilling the FBI about their bad behavior, he gave them a tongue bath, asking Wray what happens at their “Family Day.” Wray responded in what sounded like a rehearsed answer.

But there were a couple of interesting moments where even the Democrats asked some important questions about the problematic behavior of the FBI and seemed to acknowledge there was a problem.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) got right into one of the problems, asking “Is the FBI purchasing location data from commercial sources without a warrant?”

Now you would think that would be a simple question to answer, right? Assuming the FBI wasn’t violating the rights of Americans, as they had been with their illegal FISA inquiries. The answer should be no, we would never do that. But listen to Wray’s response. Essentially, “It’s complicated.”

Wray said that his answer required more “context” so he asked if he could “let my staff follow back up with you.” Translation: let me try to tell you something out of the hearing of the American people.

Lofgren asked about the 702 queries that are done under FISA without a warrant. He replied they don’t need a warrant, which is true. That isn’t the point, the point was all the improper queries, which Gaetz said were about a million. That didn’t seem to bother Wray at all.

Lofgren finished by saying the Committee would be looking into this, and you could hear Chair Jim Jordan echo “Sure will” in the background. Nice to hear some unity to ferret out this bad behavior.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) also went after Wray on this subject and warned that the FBI could face a “difficult process” to get FISA reapproved. She pointed out how his prior Senate testimony contradicted what the Office of the Director of National Intelligence was saying.

“I do want to focus on some areas of concern around Americans’ civil liberties that I have had long-standing concerns about,” Jayapal told Wray as she began her questioning. The congresswoman noted testimony he gave the Senate Intelligence Committee in March that the FBI doesn’t currently purchase commercial data on U.S. citizens, but also referenced a declassified report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) that said the opposite.

Wray then tried to play that same game that it “gets very involved to explain” so let my staff tell you later “because there’s a lot of confusion that can be unintentionally caused about this topic.”

Jayapal wasn’t having that, “But does the FBI purchase data?”

Wray claimed his testimony was the same. He still didn’t answer the question.

Jayapal said, “But I am looking at a report that is from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence saying that the FBI purchases data,” Jayapal said.

“I understand that,” Wray said.

“While I understand that that’s complicated, that is the reason that you come before us so that the American people can hear this,” she said.

Jayapal went on to question Wray about any written policies the FBI might have to outline “how it can purchase and use commercially available information,” but Wray insisted his response would be part of the same briefing he offered in his previous answer.

Jayapal cited a Supreme Court case that found it was “a violation of the Fourth Amendment for the government to access historical location data without a warrant,” and said she would follow up with Wray on whether the FBI had a written policy on how it interprets that decision.

“This is a critically important issue for the American people to understand. We have bipartisan support around FISA reauthorization and the concerns we have around FISA reauthorization. And unless we really understand what measures the FBI is taking to ensure that people’s privacy is protected, I think it’s going to be a very difficult reauthorization process. I’m sure you know that,” Jayapal said.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, thanked Jayapal for her questioning, calling it “well said.”

Now that’s what members of Congress are supposed to do — nice to see Democratic members willing to go there for once and call out the abuses.
