This one's easy - a building doesn't make noise, fans do! 04-rock COGS

Sure looks like they had the same architecture firm. Look at how the corners of the upper deck flow. Looks really similar.

Thought the same thing! CSU, OSU, and JMU all have similar stands. If JMU expanded the APC and put a beer garden on top, CSU and JMU would look very similar with completed stadiums.

Looks like Populous did the CSU one while we had usual JMU contractor and VA-based Moseley to do BFS. I’d like to think that leading global architectural firms are a few years behind JMU.

Seriously? Boise’s stadium is an architectural patchwork that looks like cr*p. The famous blue field aside, Boise’s stadium is “complete”…it’s completely ugly.

And BFS' Godwin side isn't architectural patchwork that looks like cr*p? Let's be honest, it is until we get a full stadium. They have stands as well in both endzones. Is it a thing on beauty? Hell no. Will BFS be superior once Phases II and Phases III are complete? Hell yes. But as of today, we have a half built stadium and those that are finished - ugly as they may be - are better looking to me. Oh, and it holds another 10k+ fans.

I also totally agree with the poster who said TxST > Boise St.

Glad we won though. JMU should always win the Internet. 04-cheers

The difference is JMU’s BFS has a cohesive architectural plan for future completion, and Boise’s abomination of a stadium does not. The Boise stadium is just like the rest of the Boise campus…butt ugly.

In my eyes the Godwin side of BFS looks like the Taj Mahal compared to the cobbled-together crap that defines the Boise eye-sore. But perhaps I see it that way because the Godwin side is invested with the history of Dr. Carrier and JMU’s original permanent seating.

Of course we’re all entitled to our opinions, but I submit for consideration that just because a venue may qualify as “finished” (in someone’s opinion) being “finished” doesn’t necessarily make it better than a work in progress. Indeed, IMO a “finished” piece of crap is more of an indictment of poor design and wasted resources.

Good design doesn’t cost more, but it does require superior planning. Fortunately, BFS, just like JMU’s beautiful campus, is the product of superior planning, something in limited supply in Boise.

C'mon... be real - major difference between winning the vote and who actually has the nicer stadium on this one ...I doubt we win once this takes off, but always happen when the Dukes get the silly trophy! (and more media presence is always good)

Its rarely about who really has the better x,y,z on these polls. Its more about the fanbase. UAB has a nice new stadium with 47k capacity and is getting thrashed by App St in that poll.

Yes yes ...for now...until we have robot stadiums for real fights

I've been to CSU stadium... it's really friggin awesome - our build out *could* be better pending the APC situation

RE: Bridgeforth stadium Twitter poll (Elite 8!)
I love Bridgeforth, but very surprised that we have made it this far. I thought the lopsided nature of our stadium would really hurt our chances. Conversely, we have shown how strong our fan base and support truly is. Without that, we wouldn't have gotten nearly as far.

The stadium needs to be finished. Not only will it look better, but there's no doubt it will be much louder and a way more intimidating place.

RE: Bridgeforth stadium Twitter poll (Elite 8!)
I'm not necessarily surprised we made it this far, none of the competition has been >5 so far (by FBS standards so I guess >7 given this is a G5 competition).

However, CSU is a great looking stadium. Their press box is incorporated into the stadium much better than TxSt and Boise. It's a consistent design and architecture. I'm a fan of the plaza area in the endzone too, especially in ~25-40k seat stadiums when you don't have to push fans to worst seats as a result of the open area.

Lost to a worthy opponent. That stipulated, JMU still got Toddy and went 8-3, vs. CSU’s record of 3-9. 04-cheers

Thank goodness - I was really fretting this one.

A final 4 showing or worse winning this, would be the death nell for future BFS expansion. :)

Looking like App St may take down ECU for the title, with a smaller "lopsided" stadium. They currently have a large lead.
