RE: Would the SEC give Wake Forest a partial membership??
I know of Wake Forest's success in football and respect the school so much.

If Wake wishes to continue with football, a new ACC could be the goal with schools left out of the SEC and Big Ten. Syracuse? UConn? Boston College? Pittsburgh? Duke?

If Wake does not move in this direction, could the school reduce athletics?

If a reduction of athletics (football) is considered, could the school align with Richmond, William & Mary, and Johns Hopkins? Schools like Furman, Emory, and Sewanee?

Wake has so much to lose with a change in the ACC.

100% No

We are only interested in UNC, Duke and to a lesser extent NCSU to bring the state of NC into the fold. We do not need ir want WF and would make them no special deal

Outside of some sort of merger, I don't see Wake in the SEC.

Like, an affiliate in Field Hockey? Except for the SEC not sponsoring field hockey, I would have thought Wake Forest could have had an excellent shot.

As a Vanderbilt fan, I hugely respect Wake (great baseball team this season). But the SEC has one Wake Forest already (VU) and that's sufficient. Now, could the SEC want Duke ... that's a whole different matter (due to elite academics and men's hoops).

Uncle Dazzy, I have been meaning to give a reply to this for awhile, but just never got around to it. Now I will finally do so:

I'm looking at the future. Like you, I have been following the Big East as well with a keen interest, and I am looking at Vandy like a G'town that needs a 'Nova, someone like Wake, IMO!!!
I think both universities could push each other to do better, and while the football would leave a lot to be desired (which is why I am looking at Wake as an olympic sports addition), the baseball would be out-of-this world good, IMHO!!! Basketball would be decent also, and, as exoected, the academics would be outstanding.
