In today's first game, Charlotte's ace gave up 7 runs and got no one out in the 4th. It's been even worse for our ace, Parker Smith. Ten runs scored for DBU now ... with no outs in T4 after a 3-run homer WAY over the left center wall. Bummer!!

Such disappointment for Rice fans. Kudos to DBU though. Realizing that Cruz has only been at Rice for two seasons, but the last few batters I've watched, they are not showing any progress, with a walk, two home runs, and an error. I am not impressed. At the end of two seasons, we should be a much better team than this. Hoping Berkman has some moderate success at Houston Baptist then something changes which allows him to get back to Rice and change their culture. If not Berkman, SOMEONE who will make the right moves to get some talent into the program.

I'm of the opinion that Cruz needs to be gone after this year too (I know many people say three years, but for me, when the team is this bad, two years is enough evidence)... That said, not sure Berkman is the solution... He's been a massive disappointment at HCU too.

JK is not one, nor has any Rice AD, been one to make early firings. The trend has always been to give them more than enough time to prove they cannot do the job. I'm not married to Berkman, but it could be fun to have him involved. The guy is supposedly worth $60M so not too sure how motivated he really would be.

Me too. I have been willing to give the new guy a bit of a leash. But JK has been around long enough and made enough questionable hires...
