RE: The NBA at 32 teams
I'm sure they will expand, but I think it would be a mistake. With around 6 teams in actively in tank mode I just don;t think there is enough talent to justify two more teams.

RE: The NBA at 32 teams
I like 8 divisions of 4. It gives you more flexibility in maintaining geographic rivals. I would ditch the Eastern & Western conference set-up & go to MLB & NFL conference / 'league' set-up.

I would like to see Round 1 be best of 5. In Round 1, higher seed starts on road, & is a AAHHH set up.

Round 1 of NBA Playoffs waste of time, usually 4-1 or 4-0, although this past season Round 1 was really good. So I guess maybe we're getting to the point where Best of 7 really is needed in Round 1? In that case maybe do a AAHHHHA set up.

RE: The NBA at 32 teams
Here's a set-up I came up w/ the current 30

Pacific
POR, SAC, GS, LA, LA

Mountain
PHX, UT, DEN, OKC, SAN

South
DAL, HOU, MIA, ORL, NO

Southeast
MEM, ATL, CHA, WASH, PHI

Midwest
MIN, MIL, CHI, IND, DET

Atlantic
TOR, CLE, BRO, NY, BOS

I like this set-up better than current set-up b/c it's more geographically aligned. Minnesota & Memphis aren't with the far west teams for example. It's hard to keep an East / West conference set-up tho in this scenario so it's ditched for a NFL / MLB set-up.

One conference: Atlantic, South, Pacific
Other conference: Midwest, Southeast, Mountain

I would flip Dallas and San Antonio. Dallas is closer to Oklahoma City, and Houston is closer to San Antonio. The only bad thing about your alignment is that Memphis, Oklahoma City, and New Orleans are all in different divisions - at least right now two of the three are together, and at least they are all in the same conference.

If I made any changes to the current alignment, I would probably do this:

Pacific
POR, SAC, GS, LAC, LAL

Mountain (Northwest)
UT, DEN, OKC, PHX, MN

Southwest
DAL, SAN, HOU, NO, MEM

At least from November to March the Northwest division would only have a one hour time difference between Phoenix and Minnesota/Oklahoma City.
